I think the Cardinals may eventually move to the new land they are developing in North Phoenix/Scottsdale. Michael Bidwill and the Cardinals control about 217 gross acres on the land by the new headquarters off Scottsdale Road in the 101 (roughly 185 net) About 30 acres are committed to the new headquarters. There is a lot of land left over, plenty of space for a new Cardinals stadium. Public documents haven’t shown a final land use plan for the remaining acreage by his real estate company, Rawhide, and nothing public precludes a stadium. The current Glendale lease horizon is around 2036, which gives a natural long-term window for Michael Bidwell to plan on the next Cardinal stadium…

If someone is too drunk to drive and chooses to sleep in their parked car instead of getting on the road, I don’t understand why that can still result in a DUI in some places. You stayed off the road. You didn’t put anyone in danger. Punishing someone for choosing not to drive feels like the wrong message.

$META The keynote's in about 40 minutes and the rumor mill is in overdrive today:
- **A new EU trademark just surfaced** for "Meta VR Glasses," describing glasses-shaped displays tethered to a separate compute unit — that's widely read as tonight's formal debut of the Project Phoenix headset.
- **Camera-free glasses ("Luna")** — Reuters reports Meta will unveil smart glasses *without* cameras in two styles ("Clubmaster" and "Burbank"), a direct answer to the privacy backlash over covert recording. Analysts also expect a refreshed version of the camera-equipped Ray-Bans. Smart glasses sales reportedly topped 7 million last year.
- **Project Phoenix details** — thin goggle-like design, a tethered compute puck, no controllers (eye and hand tracking), and Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Reality Elite chip. Launch reportedly pushed to the first half of 2027.
- **Holographic video calls** — Zuckerberg and CTO Bosworth are expected to demo photorealistic "Codec Avatar" hologram calls on the Phoenix device.

If Jaxson Dart is done for the year, I think the @Giants should trade for Vikings third-string QB J.J. McCarthy. GM Joe Schoen considered him w/6th overall pick in 2024 (they took Malik Nabers). McCarthy helped Jim Harbaugh win national championship in 2023 and he loves McCarthy. John and Jim often sign players with a history with each other. Probably would cost only mid-round pick and Giants could run same RPO offense they were using with Dart that is not suited to Jameis Winston. If McCarthy plays well for Giants, can build up his value to trade him after season or supplant Winston as Dart's backup. Low-risk move. McCarthy has been huge disappointment in Minnesota but he's only 23 years old, a few months older than Dart.
2024 The D-backs finished their 162 games still alive, then were eliminated on September 30, when the Mets and Braves split a makeup doubleheader. That was an unusually late elimination.
2025 was close also. Arizona was eliminated on September 26 with two games left; the Mets stayed alive until the final day.
