Tory Lanez’s former prison warden denies wrongdoing in the rapper’s $100 million stabbing lawsuit. On Oct. 7, Thomas Valdez, the warden at California Correctional Institution, filed an answer to Tory's April lawsuit, which accuses the warden, the Department of Corrections and dozens of correctional officers of failure to protect, negligent supervision, intentional infliction of emotional distress, violation of privacy rights and conversion. While Valdez admits Tory was stabbed by an inmate with an improvised weapon, Valdez insists he was not at fault. This is contrary to Tory's claims that the rapper should not have been in the same unit with his attacker due to his history of violence. Valdez also denied that Tory's rights were violated. As previously reported, Tory Lanez is seeking a nine-figure payout as compensation for being stabbed 16 times by fellow inmate Santino Casio on May 12, 2025. Tory has since been transferred to California Men's Colony, where he is serving the remainder of his 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
