Only the BBC could devise a funding model where the solution to people not watching your programmes is to charge them for watching somebody else's.
Under this logic, every time I order a Domino's, I should send Pizza Hut £2.50 to support the future of British pizza.

Nansi Williams - the heroic dinner lady who died saving the lives of schoolchildren during the Aberfan disaster...
On October 21, 1966, a Welsh school dinner lady Nansi Williams threw herself over five children as a wall of coal waste crashed into their school. All five survived. She did not.
That morning, children at Pantglas Junior School in Aberfan, Wales, were preparing for their final day before the half-term holiday. Nansi, a local woman who worked in the school dining hall, was collecting dinner money from pupils.
Above the village stood enormous mountains of waste from the nearby coal mine. For years, residents had lived beneath them, despite concerns about their stability.
At approximately 9:15 a.m., one of those mountains collapsed.
Around 150,000 tonnes of coal waste and water surged down the hillside, smashing into houses and engulfing the school.
Inside, Nansi saw the danger approaching.
She ordered five children to get down, then threw herself over them, using her own body as a shield.
The impact killed her.
One of the children, Karen Thomas, later recalled how Nansi had jumped on top of them as glass shattered and the wall collapsed. The children initially did not understand that she was dead. They tried pulling her hair to wake her.
When rescuers recovered Nansi's body, accounts say she was still clutching a pound note collected for school dinners.
The Aberfan disaster killed 144 people, including 116 children.
An official inquiry later placed responsibility squarely on the National Coal Board. The catastrophe had been preventable.
Nansi had no children of her own. In her final moments, she saved five who belonged to other families.
For decades, her extraordinary sacrifice received little recognition beyond the community that remembered her.
Now, approaching the disaster's 60th anniversary in October 2026, a campaign to honor her has succeeded. A commemorative Purple Plaque is scheduled to be unveiled in Aberfan on October 30.
Five children went home because Nansi Williams never did.

LC and Fibro flare up then awful sore throat, exhausted, headache, woke at 4am and had to tear off my cpap mask and rush to the bathroom, almost vomited. Was on the floor for ages.
Now feel like absolute hell.😭
I got off lightly the two bugs we had in the house last 2 weeks😭
I've been thinking about a power unit like a Jackery 2000 or similar. Can stay charged up until needed in a power cut and also run my CPAP and save me buying a back up battery for it. CPAP batteries are expensive so could do it this way and have back up power for emergencies too.

🚨#BREAKING: Parents are FURIOUS after a 67-year-old Maryland school bus driver who bought EVERY KID SCHOOL SUPPLIES ON HER ROUTE was STRIPPED OF HER CERTIFICATION...
...because she stopped on an empty country road so a 10-year-old boy could RESCUE AN INJURED KITTEN!!!
Yes, you read that right...
A little boy saw a hurt kitten on the side of the road, his bus driver let him save it, and she lost her job for it.
Her name is Cynthia Morgan.
For 11 years she drove kids in Harford County, most recently to North Harford Elementary.
Parents say every fall she BOUGHT SCHOOL SUPPLIES for EVERY child on her bus.
Oh, and she also bought:
-> Christmas gifts.
-> Birthday cards.
All out of her own pocket, for all her bus stop students.
In one mom’s words:
“She is an angel. She is the most caring person.”
Then one day... in rural Pylesville, the boy spotted an injured kitten by the road.
He was the ONLY child on the bus
Cynthia stopped, he hopped off, scooped up the kitten, and held it the whole way to school.
On October 5th, the district’s transportation director sent a letter to the contractor that employs her and stripped her of her certification.
More than 10,000 people have signed a petition to bring her back.
Even freaking PETA wrote to the Board of Education TODAY demanding a review of the situation
The boy’s mother is BEYOND FURIOUS... if you can't let a boy rescue a kitten on a country road, what CAN you do?!!!!
WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE?!!!!!!!!

In 1986, a boy fell into a gorilla enclosure at Jersey Zoo where a silverback gorilla protected him till help arrived.
My son's school gave someone a warning (2 warnings in one class is a removal so you miss the lesson) because they said "bless you" when someone sneezed and that was talking when not allowed to.
Goodness me.
Covid test still negative, flu test i will never as it fell down the back of the couch and slipped under it. No getting that back.
Would like to know what is doing a number on me
Nine months to grow you, Three hours to give birth to you, One hour to bury you. Charlotte died on the 24th February 2016. She was 19.
Glioblastoma was the brain cancer that stripped my daughter of her mobility, her ability to speak and her ability to hear. Within twenty-four hours, following a rapid decline post-diagnosis, she was paralysed down her right side; she was no longer able to text, nor was she able to feed herself. A few days later Charlotte could no longer communicate. She was taken into hospital and put into an induced coma from which she never recovered. Charlotte and I had always dreamed of choosing a wedding dress together, as well as her first car. Instead, I chose her last outfit, the one she would wear on the day of her funeral and cremation. I never got to choose a wedding car, only the hearse.
If you want to donate to a brain tumour charity where 100% of your donation goes to research please think of us and pop a pound in Charlotte's Bag.
A self funding charity. All donations to Charlotte's Lab, King's College Hospital. London
