The math isn't mathing.
The world spends more than three times as much on fossil fuel subsidies as it would cost to transition to clean economies for a safe climate and air.
The solutions are ready and the money is there. What’s needed now is action at scale.

🌡️ El Niño is firmly established and will intensify into a very strong event in the coming months. WMO forecasts show ~100% likelihood that it will persist through February 2027.
A very strong El Niño ≠ same impacts everywhere.

AI must be used to help solve the climate crisis — not deepen it.
Its appetite for electricity, water & land is growing fast.
AI companies must power data centres with renewable energy by 2030 & disclose their environmental footprint.
Technology aimed at protecting people must also protect the planet.

Monsoon rainfall deficit of 43% as on June 27 will be reduced once it covers the entire country next month but the season, already impacted by El Niño, may not get a climatic cushion of Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) to offset the impact this year.

Do read what @vardhanpatankar, who has spent years diving in and studying coral reefs in the Andaman & Nicobar, has to say about the proposal to translocate 16,150 coral colonies from the east to the west coast of Great Nicobar Island. thewire.in/environment/great…
Replying to @thewire_in
But this ‘mitigation measure’ is an “illusion”, and translocating these colonies is tantamount to killing them, writes marine biologist @vardhanpatankar for The Wire.

VIDEO | Weather Update: IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra says, "Across India, rainfall in June has so far remained about 40% below normal. This was in line with our forecast issued at the beginning of June, which had predicted below-normal rainfall for the month. The main reasons are the delayed and weak advance of the monsoon and the absence of any low-pressure system so far in June. In addition, weak El Niño conditions prevailing over the Pacific Ocean are influencing atmospheric circulation and affecting monsoon activity..."
