What does it mean to be Baptist? This is a question that I believe needs to be discussed, so I started a substack called "The Radical Baptist." I'll be posting a variety of articles that intend to answer that question. Read my thesis article here: theradicalbaptist.substack.c…

Just saying, if you’ve opted out and plan to opt back in, why not just take 15% of your income and put it in a mutual fund?
JD Hall deserved to be marked and avoided with how he treated Ergun Caner. He just keeps getting worse. If you participated in rehabbing him, you should repent. He should’ve long been forgotten.
He went to Epstein Island. Look forward to releasing that info. Good luck.

My brother, read the context. It’s their personal duty, not a governing duty. He literally talks about the impossibility of a governing duty. He says that any minister who turns to the government cannot call himself a minister of Christ.
Replying to @commonplacestdy
Isaac Backus, An Appeal to the Public for Religious Liberty (1773), p. 11: "It is often pleaded, that magistrates ought to do their duty in religious as well as civil affairs. That is readily granted; but what is their duty therein? Surely it is to bow to the name of Jesus"

A good word here from @jake_stone89. Remember: Friends don't let friends do Ctrl+F historical theology.
🚨PSA: Isaac Backus was NOT a magisterial Baptist.

Tim and I talked about our friendship, how it was forged, and how it has been good for us not to pastor alone! Also, when I said he’s 65, you’d understand if you’ve seen his hair.
In this episode of the Text-Driven Podcast, local church pastor and our Network Director, Timothy Pigg, discusses the importance of not pastoring alone. Listen to Episode 254 on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

My brother in Christ, WE HEAR THIS ALL THE TIME FROM CALVINISTS
Libertarian Free Will is a doctrine of demons. LFW makes man sovereign over God. LFW teaches that man saves himself. LFW robs God of His glory. LFW is a man-centered false gospel. LFW proponents worship human autonomy rather than the God of Scripture. Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? Yet these are the kinds of accusations Calvinists hear regularly, simply reversed. Disagree with Calvinism? Fine. Open your Bible and make your case. But if you wouldn't appreciate your beliefs being deliberately misrepresented, perhaps you shouldn't do it to others. Disagreement is not a license to bear false witness. The Council yields the floor. ⚖️

Donnie Wilkins is a mentor that I never got to meet. I’d talk to Matt about church things, asking for advice, and he’d talk to his dad and relay the advice back to me. Some of the best advice came from him. Keep the Wilkins in your prayer.
Dad went home to be w Jesus yesterday morning. His faith in Jesus has become sight. He has run his race & finished his course. Well done Dad! Thank you for being my Dad...my example (in many things & ways)...& being my friend! I love & will see you again one day. 1 Cor 15:50-58

As you drive to your church campus today, you’ll probably pass another one. Take a moment to pray that God would do amazing things in that congregation. Remember, a church that faithfully preaches the gospel and makes disciples isn’t your competition. They’re your family.

The basis of my salvation is not that I loved Christ, but that He loved me. The outcome of my salvation is that I now get to love Christ.
Jesus: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” Protestants: “Best I can do is faith alone.”

1. Online church is like online food. All visual, no satiation. 2. Most churches that do livestreams are paying a pretty penny (or burning volunteers) to make it happen for a small group of people.
You know who really isn't a fan of watching church online? Folks with college degrees making six figures. Just 8% say that they attend online services weekly. Among those with a high school diploma or less and making less than $50K? It's 22%.

I feel like the reaction to the "online church" trend ought to topple the universal church theory. Or least that the universal church is primary. Those rightly against it get that online church is oxymoronic, but the same logic leads to thinking the universal church is too.
There is no such thing as “attending online church”. Even the phrase is oxymoronic The church assembles together in one body for the sake of edification, fellowship, word, and sacrament. We have to put an end to this nonsense

Like, either there is no universal church/the universal church is a future reality or online church is valid.

His student loan interest rate would have to be 10%. If you're taking out a student loan with a 10% interest rate, I'm sorry, but that's on you.

Beware the danger of eclecticism. It seems humble, and even wise, to take the "best pieces" of different views and put them together, but rarely does that produce a delicious cake. More often, it creates Frankenstein's monster.

I just learned that North Point has a largely episcopal (almost Catholic) style of church governance, with a hint of Congregational democracy.
Breaking! Andy Stanley announced this morning that he is stepping down as senior pastor of North Point Ministries. Long-time pastor Joel Thomas is being nominated to take over. Stanley insists that while he's retiring from his job, he's not retiring from ministry and will remain on the Board of Elders and will preach as part of the pastoral rotation.

A lot of early Christians believe in ransom theory. Proof that early Christians went wrong on a lot. Thankful for the Bible.
Whereas; paedobaptism does not mean only babies should be baptized. Whereas; paedobaptists agree that pagans raised outside the church must be able to profess faith before baptism. Therefore, be it resolved; evidence of catechumen classes before baptism in the early church does not (of itself) provide legitimate evidence against paedobaptism. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Does anyone have that stickman GIF that explains what happened and how it's not a contradiction?
in Matthew, Judas hangs himself. in Acts, he falls headlong and his body bursts open. one Judas, two accounts, and somehow we’re told there are no contradictions.

Daniel 5 was probably the hardest passage to principlize in the book of Daniel. The principle of it is very similar to Daniel 4, but shaded differently.
27
A beauty of the book of Daniel is that God is seen as cosmically sovereign and personally sovereign. The affairs of the world are held in His hand as He does as He pleases. The affairs of individual kings are in His hand, and He does as He pleases.
