Already bored of Gonzalez. Bring me more signings. A 10, a winger, 2 CBs and the ghost of Jackie Milburn #nufc

🚨Roy Keane on the controversial penalty awarded to Liverpool after Lewis Hall’s challenge on Victor Muñoz:
🗣️ Roy Keane: “For me, that is not a penalty. I’m sorry, but Newcastle have been completely robbed here. Their knees collide that’s what happens in a football match when two players are competing for the ball. What exactly was Lewis Hall supposed to do? Stand still and allow the attacker to run through and score?
“There’s no obvious push, no deliberate trip, no reckless challenge. Their knees simply clatter together and Victor Munoz goes down. We’ve seen contact like that a thousand times without a penalty being given. I don’t understand how VAR looks at that and decides Newcastle should be punished.
“Newcastle had this game won. They played well enough to take all three points, defended for their lives and deserved the victory. Then a decision like this changes everything and hands Liverpool a point.
“That’s not the way you want a big Premier League match decided. Newcastle have been robbed of a win, while Liverpool have been handed a lifeline by the officials.”

Apart from having no captain, a slow backline, no creativity in midfield and no obvious striker, I think we're alright

🚨Jamie Carragher on Bruno Guimarães’ £75m move from Newcastle to Arsenal:
I’ve got no problem with Bruno Guimarães as a Premier League player. He’s solid, he’s got energy, he can dictate a midfield on a good day. But let’s not pretend this is some transformative signing for Arsenal.
They’re handing Newcastle £75 million for a 28-year-old who has never lifted a major trophy and has never been the difference-maker at the absolute highest level. That’s not elite business.
That’s Arsenal doing what Arsenal do — overthinking, overpaying, and stacking another ‘good’ player on top of a midfield that already has depth instead of solving the real problems.
And the irony is beautiful, isn’t it? Remember when Bruno literally laughed at Arsenal’s interest in that Newcastle unveiling video? He sat there smirking while the whole thing was filmed. Now the same club is transferring £75m of their own money straight into Newcastle’s bank account for him.
That’s not a transfer. That’s poetic justice. Newcastle win twice: they get the cash and they get the last laugh.
This doesn’t elevate Arsenal. It just adds another body. Classic Arsenal. They already have enough midfielders who can control games against mid-table sides. What they still don’t have is that proven winner who flips the biggest matches. Guimarães is very good. He’s not that player. And at that price, with that age profile, it’s a soft, expensive way of papering over the cracks instead of fixing them.”

Newcastle United have agreed to a £24.2m deal to secure Reims' rising star Ewen Jaouen as their first signing of the summer window. The Magpies successfully fought off fierce, late competition from two French clubs, as well as an inquiry from Real Madrid, to land the highly-rated youngster on a four-year contract, according to Lee Ryder.
While Jaouen is arriving from Ligue 2 with the understanding that he won't immediately step into the number-one spot, his decision to move to Tyneside was heavily influenced by Newcastle's vision for their squad rebuild and the promise of a platform to prove himself.
The "twist" in Newcastle's summer plans is that the goalkeeper department is undergoing a massive overhaul. Jaouen's arrival is just the first phase, as the club still intends to sign another senior goalkeeper to compete for the starting jersey.
This major restructuring comes on the heels of two high-profile departures, Aaron Ramsdale and John Ruddy.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe hinted that fans should expect a shift in the team's dynamics moving into the new campaign, particularly regarding the integration of younger talent.
"I think there are things within our game model that we would look to evolve. And certainly, there will be a part of the squad that will change—that always happens going into transfer windows... how we play changes every season anyway."
All good stuff! 🖤🤍
