Ten years ago my daughter was in a PR campaign promoting the legacy of Title IX. 37 words that changed sports in our country. This week a federal judge said, “never mind ladies, our bad, it was never enforceable” Video below:

Many universities, including The University of New Mexico (the Harvard of the Southwest) have dropped men’s soccer to comply w Title IX. It has reshaped college sports nationwide. Today a federal judge ruled Title IX has never applied to NCAA sports.

When Netflix announced they would debut a Little House on the Prairie series, I received the news with a sense of dread. While I knew it could be like All Creatures Great and Small and remain relatively faithful to the spirit of much-loved books, it could also be like Rings of Power and be anything but. challies.com/articles/netfli…

In the Christian nationalism debate hosted by Cannon press, Mohler made a comment about dispensationalism: it dominates our evangelical landscape, also, it hardly has any influence. Reminds me of the Yogi Berra line: “Nobody goes to that restaurant anymore, it’s too crowded”

I encountered another divorce in a church recently. While a reviling wife was involved, it appears the elder board is handling the situation as well as they can in a nation that has normalized covenant dissolution. And what can they do as an elder board? At some point, the woman can simply stop answering their phone calls and letters and go marry a Southern Baptist Deacon, or a transdenominational every other weeker. Society has no conviction on this issue, and societal conviction is required to save marriage. Because you save a marriage when a person realizes life after marriage is terrible and gets desperate enough to seek God's help to save it. God uses a lot of things as means to draw people to himself that we look down our noses at. Social scorn can be one of those. My heart breaks for the dad and kids left behind.

The handling of the recent G3 controversy exposes a painful disconnect between the theology we champion and the way we actually operate. Three ways this fallout hurts the growing Reformed movement: 1. We champion theological precision, then abandon it the moment targeting a brother over a minor citation issue becomes advantageous. 2. We preach God’s sovereignty, then seize control ourselves through backroom maneuvers and anonymous letters aimed at taking down a faithful pastor. 3. We affirm local church autonomy and biblical polity, then presume to act as gatekeepers over pastors and elders who answer to neither. Theological orthodoxy without charity, humility, and biblical process isn't orthodoxy; it’s modern-day Pharisaism. We must do better.

If this report is true, it's really troubling, as the conduct described here does not meet the mark for men in ministry per Paul: "But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God’s word..." (2 Corinthians 4:2a)

For those now conflicted over continued support/partnership with G3 Ministries: The pattern made clear in witness testimony and documentation from Pray's Mill is an ecclesiology that Christians in free-church traditions should immediately recognize as deeply unjust and unbiblical: The elders investigate. The elders decide what happened. They determine your motives. They decide what repentance requires. And if you disagree with their judgment, your disagreement itself becomes evidence that you are rebellious, divisive, or unrepentant. "Submit to your elders" becomes "submit to the elders' interpretation of disputed facts, motives, and remedies." Biblical elders have real authority, but it is ministerial authority under the Word of God. They do not possess perpetual, self-generating jurisdiction over Christians simply because they hold the office of elder. They cannot bind the conscience where Scripture has not bound it. They cannot turn their own prudential judgments into “biblical requirements” merely by declaring them to be the necessary fruits of repentance. This system contains a dangerous, abusive circularity: We have determined that you sinned. We have determined what repentance must look like. If you reject our determination, that proves you haven't repented. Because you haven't repented, you must submit to further discipline. A closed authority loop. In this loop, accusations against elders receive extraordinary procedural protection, while those same elders investigate accusations against members, determine their motives, prescribe their repentance, and then judge whether that repentance is sufficient. Brothers and sisters, this is not an issue of polity preference. It is a 4-alarm ecclesiological fire in Reformed evangelicalism, coming from an institution trusted to teach other churches. Elders shepherd the flock. They teach the Word. They exercise genuine spiritual oversight. They are not lords over the conscience. And "obey your leaders" is not a biblical blank check allowing church officers to convert disputed judgments into the voice of God. This system of self-generated authority existed at Pray's Mill Baptist Church while Josh Buice was there. It was in the background, justifying his anonymous communications. But when those comms involved a fellow elder, this same system was used against him. After his departure, it continues to be used and taught by the same men who ask us to trust them to train pastors and churches. The brothers and sisters who have paid dearly to bring this to light were pursued and attacked for doing so. Some are still being attacked as I write this. Pastors, you must understand that if you partner with them, this is what you have yoked with.

I’m bugged that ABQ and Santa Fe are not in any circle. TonyHillerman? Rudolfo Anaya? Cormac McCarthy? Heck, Lois Duncan even? No love for NM lit
You are only allowed to read novelists/poets from one of these circles for the rest of your life. Which do you choose?

The creeds and confessions of the church do not have more authority than the Bible. But they do have more authority than you, a private interpreter, if you are churning out novel or quirky readings. That’s because the creeds and confessions represent the collective interpretive wisdom of Christ’s church through the ages. Study them carefully. Let the ancient masters of Scripture and theology show you how they came to their conclusions, and you will likely see their great doctrines in the Bible for yourself. The creeds and confessions are based on their insights, confirmed by Christ’s church. The creeds and confessions are a normed norm. The Bible alone is the norm that norms all norms.

Saying the Dispensationalists, as a general rule, believe that Jews have a path to God apart from faith in Christ is like saying that Calvinists, as a general rule, believe evangelism is unimportant. It’s a false claim that blunts wisdom, charity, and truth.
