Today we're launching Roma. Roma is the to-do list that does itself. The original productivity tool reinvented. Months of hard work, and a lot of honest feedback from beta users who kept pushing us to get it right. roma.app/ Roma is available today. Can't wait to hear what you think. @ycombinator

Been cheering for @ajaymehta since our YC W12 days. So cool to see what he’s building with Tolan. Huge congrats to the whole team!
Until today - we haven't had any press that really communicates why people love Tolan. It's not the most intuitive to grasp if you aren't a user. Grateful to @alexrkonrad for actually taking the time to speak with our users, and write the first feature that does.

Everything in @romaromahq is a list now. It's the biggest simplification we've made to the product. Just lists and items, starting with your familiar task list. Create lists for anything you want to track, with custom properties, sorting, filtering and new views. One simpler structure, with more power for you, your Operator and your agents. This post was written with @romaromahq while on a run. Somewhere around 6k, a few things popped into my head. Follow up with Tobi about the new integration. Research races in SF for early next year. And then... I should write about this. So I pulled out my phone, mid-stride, hit the Action Button, and put all of it into Roma in one ramble. Tobi. The races. And “have my Content Editor write about how I'm writing a LinkedIn post about rambling on a run and add it to my Content Pipeline.” Then I kept running. By the end of the run, a follow-up for Tobi was drafted, the race research task had a short list of SF races with dates and signup links, and a draft of this post was waiting. What you’re reading is that draft, with a few edits.

We gave everyone AI and still had to ask, “Did you see my message?” Happy investor in Town since seed. This is the problem to solve. Congrats @jgreze @tonydevincenzi !
The biggest bottleneck at work is waiting on each other. Today Town is announcing its $108M Series B, co-led by Forerunner Ventures and Menlo Ventures, to fix it with multiplayer AI assistants for work. Most AI assistants are built for one person. Work doesn't happen alone. I think the moat is multiplayer. Everyone at a company gets a Townie. Townies ask each other questions, share only what their person would share, and do the work. The more a team works together, the more useful Townies get. What's the thing you're always waiting on a teammate for?

Opening a task list shouldn't mean renegotiating every unfinished commitment. A place to capture everything and a plan for today have different jobs. Keep the backlog available without presenting all of it as today's obligation. Give today's work a concrete starting point. Leave the rest somewhere trustworthy. A useful design test: does opening the app make starting easier, or just make the unfinished work more visible?

An agent that needs constant checking has created a new chore. Finishing the work should include delivering the result, saying what still needs a decision, and making it easy to pick up from there. Nobody needs another inbox to refresh.

Earlier this week, we were back at @ycombinator in Mountain View for the first time in years. I did the W12 batch my first time around. YC was smaller then. You met every founder in your batch, many times over. We wrote every line of code ourselves. It took us weeks to build something we could use, and months to get it ready for users. A lot has changed since then. This time, agents are writing code for us while a self-driving car is taking us to the office. But what resonated with me then still does now: the blunt honesty about how hard it is to build a startup. What stays with me is how little anyone has to pretend. You can be struggling with your startup without having to turn it into a story about progress. I remember feeling out of place in a job that, on paper, should have suited me. When I came to YC and saw the way the founders thought, I knew I found my people. Hearing people talk honestly about those things made me feel less alone back then. Being back, it still does.

Go Luigi!!
a task created in a @romaromahq project now starts a claude code session on my mac within seconds. roma's operator turns what i ask into tasks and files them into projects. my agent watches those projects and starts claude code sessions for each task, posting progress back into the task's chat. right now, it's polling every 10s when my mac is online. i'll switch to a webhook when events ship

Multiple agents, one task, nobody asking me to paste the whole conversation again. Yes please.

Roma is now the command center for you and your agents. We’ve talked to a lot of you over the past week, and the same thing keeps coming up: we’re using a lot of agents at once, but context gets lost. Work is scattered. We're still chasing things down. We heard you and we’ve updated our MCP tooling and API, built connections and plugins for popular agents, and made it simpler to connect them to Roma. Claude, Codex, OpenClaw, Gemini, Muse, Instinct, even the ones you built yourself. You can keep using your favorite agent, and use Roma as your command center for all your work in motion. And this just the beginning. Get started: roma.app/agents @romaromahq @ycombinator

We've added widgets to Roma on iOS. Your tasks now sit right on your Home Screen, so you can see what’s next without opening the app. Set each widget to a specific project and choose how it’s sorted. Tap the mic or the + to get a thought into Roma in seconds. See what’s in progress and what’s due at a glance. Tap any task and the Operator’s work is already there. Widgets come in small, medium and large. You can also add add a task or talk to Roma straight from your lock screen. Full changelog: roma.app/changelog/what-s-ne…

OpenAI’s product surface area is a disaster. Imagine a human assistant telling you this! “Switch to work mode” lol

200 weeks in a row on Strava. Not a single week off. That kind of streak isn't built on big wins. It's built on small runs that you don't feel like lacing up for. You can't run a good marathon just by showing up on race day. You have to build the endurance, day after day, week after week. Startups are the same. We all want something to click right away. Make something people want. But building something great takes time, let alone finding product-market fit. It takes sweat and tears. Even now when you can build faster than ever. Not every run is a good one. Not every launch lands. You learn, adjust, and show up again next week. That's how we're building Roma. Brick by brick. Pillar by pillar. Stay tuned for the ride.

We just launched task sharing on Roma this past Saturday, and we're already feeling good the response. So we wanted to share some more ideas on how we use it ourselves. roma.app/download @romaromahq

The Action Button on your iPhone opens Roma. Then you just ramble. Apps like ChatGPT give you text back that you have to organize yourself. Roma figures out what you're talking about and acts on it. A new task, a detail added to another task, a checklist, a reminder. All at once. Nothing buried in a chat. Less to remember. Less organizing. More getting tasks done. roma.app/download

We built sharing into Roma. Share a task and everyone works in the same task, bringing in their Operator with their own tools and connections. You bring your Gmail connection, they bring their Google Drive, both working towards the same goal. No other product allows you to do that, let alone any to-do list. I was a huge fan of Things for over 10 years. But it started feeling stale. I was simply missing the intelligence. So we built the to-do list we wanted for ourselves. The one you already know, except now you can get the work done right where your tasks are. Turns out a lot of people feel the same way. More coming. roma.app/download

Still feeling the excitement from yesterday's launch. All the likes, reposts, and comments make one thing obvious: to-do lists are here to stay. It's also exciting to see how people are using Roma. A lot of you are already connecting it to your own agents. We love seeing that. And for those of you asking how to make that happen: roma.app/developers More on that coming soon! @romaromahq
