If only we had more politicians like the brilliant @Fox_Claire She speaks eminent sense that can be easily understood & more importantly carried through. The Establishment have been & still are getting away with murder.
Yesterday I made my first speech of the new term on the Public Office (Accountability) Bill - known as the Hillsborough law. It is right to make the state accountable for wrongdoing and cover ups, but if the general mood is to treat public concerns and fury with contempt, it will have limited effects. I used the example of the Nottingham Inquiry and multiple agency failures that allowed violent Valdo Calocane free to kill.

This is disgusting. I can’t imagine what Emma and her family are constantly having to go through.
I am furious.
Our son was murdered by a man whose violent and vicious history and risks were repeatedly missed.
Now we learn that another mentally ill man with a fixation on us and the Nottingham case travelled to Somerset, including our home town, seeking out victims' families; and the police chose not to tell us.
@nottspolice knew. The @policeconduct knew.
Yet nobody thought Barnaby's family deserved a warning.
Nobody thought Charlie's school deserved safeguarding advice.
Nobody thought we had a right to know.
Is this even legal? Isn’t this within 'Osman warning'.
As @drsanjoykumar points out in the story; the Calocane family were heaped with additional support and resources, including CCTV to make them safe.
We had zero.
How many more shocking failures are we expected to uncover ourselves?
Victims' families should not have to fight for every piece of information while those responsible hide behind processes and excuses.
STILL no accountability for ANYONE in these failed agencies.

I have often thought that one of the ways to reduce cost as the NHS would be to centralise purchasing for all items from cotton wool buds to MRI machines.
These days Amazon boast that you can place an order at 10 am and it can be delivered by 4pm the same day.
Imagine a government contract awarded to Amazon to store in one central warehouse all NHS materials . Allowing every hospital in the UK to send orders for supplies.
Also imagine as an example of one item, how many cotton wool buds are sitting in stock at each and every hospital in the country. It will run into millions, whereas using the just in time ordering this stock pile would be massively reduced.
Further to this (and I maybe wrong) each hospital have buyers for all supplies. They are able to use any supplier they choose and I am sure not at the best prices . Centralised supplies offers great negotiation power with suppliers.

However, he didn’t answer any questions, preferred point-scoring, mentioned Liz Truss despite the UK 10-year gilt yields being higher under Labour.

A Burnham claimed yesterday that the 2016 vote for Brexit ushered in a decade of low growth.
He’s right that there’s been low growth, though not just in Britain, which suggests Brexit is not quite the explanation he thinks it is.
I think Brexiteers hard pressed to show that Brexit has been good for growth.
But Remainers lack evidence it has crippled or undermined growth.
In the decade from mid-2016 til mid-2026, the UK had the 3rd biggest growth in real GDP (13%) of the G7. Well behind the US (27%) and Canada (20%) but ahead of France (12%), Italy 10%, Germany 8%, and Japan (6%).
I think we can all agree Japan made a big mistake leaving the EU.

Yesterday Burnham stood at the despatch box and said he would find prison places by releasing dangerous offenders, hailing it as justice for them.
The Telegraph has revealed that almost 100 of those already let out went on to commit murder, rape and other serious offences.
This isn’t politics done differently, it’s putting the public at risk.

We have now received notice that the case against the second individual who held a sign saying “F - - - Islam, Christ is King” at the Unite the Kingdom rally has been dropped.
This is welcome news, but they should never have been arrested in the first place.
Would someone holding a sign saying “F - - - Christianity, Muhammad is King” sign have been arrested, held overnight in a cell and investigated for a public order offence? It is highly unlikely.
Parliament voted to abolish Britain’s blasphemy laws in 2008 — 18 years ago. We must not allow an Islamic blasphemy law to return via the back door as a result of the actions of the Government, the judiciary or law enforcement.

The FSU has joined forces with @BigBrotherWatch (BBW) to back two people arrested for holding signs that read “f*** Islam” at the Unite the Kingdom march in May. The pair were being investigated for potential breaches of the Public Order Act, with possible religious aggravation.
We received news today that the case against one of the individuals has been dropped following representations made by the FSU and BBW.
In a joint legal letter to the Crown Prosecution Service and the Metropolitan Police, we urged them to drop the case — pointing out that Britain does not have blasphemy laws and that it is not an offence to express hostility towards any religion.
We also cited the case of Hamit Coskun, who was accused of threatening public order after he burnt a copy of the Quran outside the Turkish consulate in London in peaceful protest against what he called the Islamification of his home country, Turkey.
The judgment made it very clear that the law distinguishes between the right to express hostility towards a religion and hatred towards people because of their religion. As Mr Justice Bennathan said: “The right to freedom of expression, if it is a right worth having, must include the right to express views that offend, shock or disturb.”
The UK is in the midst of a free speech crisis. We cannot allow the Government and the police to revive our censorious blasphemy laws — for Islam alone.
The misuse of public order legislation must stop. It is having a chilling effect on our right to free speech, our right to protest and our right to criticise ANY religion.

Millions and millions of people think even ONE crossing is too many. They aren’t interested in seven year records…
How dare this government be exploring potential tax rises on working Brits, while still allowing people to illegally enter this country en masse & expecting said tax payers to foot the bill. Many of whom btw don’t have a fraction of the luxuries provided to them that these men do.
Illegal migration is an absolute national emergency and I honestly don’t believe this government (nor any of the others who have also presided over this scandal) actually understand the public sentiment on this.
They are weak and spineless on this issue and think that gaslighting re hotels and “crossings” makes it better. It doesn’t.
