Sad news indeed. Admittedly, I may be a little biased--the Festival style is one of my favourite variants of Modernism--but still....😩
NEWS: The Festival-style Alexander House in Finchley (1960) is set to be demolished, after C20's listing application was rejected.
Designed by Montagu Evans for the Anglo-Dutch Cigar Co, it features a striking mural by Indian abstract artist Avinash Chandra, which we hope to save

Just home from Italy. Great trip marred by #lner who had a train of 5 rather than 9 coaches packed with #Newcastle football supporters slumped in the seats whilst most women were sitting on the vestibule floors - I don’t know who is worse LNER or the fans - depressing.
