Allard J2X, mid-50s, built to terrorize sports car races with a big American V8 stuffed in a tiny British body. Subtlety was never on the options list.
The Volkswagen ID.Buzz's battery pack is positioned so low in the floor that it creates a center of gravity lower than most sedans, yet this advantage is partially offset by the deliberately soft suspension tuning needed to maintain ride comfort on the tall, narrow tires required for the boxy shapeāmeaning Volkswagen engineers had to choose between maximizing the handling benefits of low weight distribution and preserving the practical comfort that buyers actually expected from a family van. jamz.net/car-fact-113-octobeā¦
Maserati MC20 with scissor doors up and a Rally4Vets banner on the windshield ā when the supercar has a cause, it hits different.
Baby itās cold outside⦠and the gates decided to freeze shut š„¶š„So naturally, I did the most logical thing possible: introduced fire to the situation.
Was it smart? Questionable.
Did it work? Absolutely.
Winter problems require creative solutions. Donāt try this at home⦠or do, just donāt tell the gates I said that šāļøšŖ

Just spotted a gorgeous Chrysler Newport and remembered why classic American iron never gets old. Cars and coffee is the best way to appreciate these beauties. Check my profile to see the videos. #CarsAndCoffee #ClassicCars
Before Photoshop, smartphones, and digital cameras, photographers needed some seriously clever equipment.
Check out this vintage Adjutar photo enlarger from Germany, dating back to around 1930. It's essentially a compact darkroom in a box, designed to enlarge photographic images from negatives.
It's amazing to see how photographers worked nearly 100 years ago, and how much mechanical ingenuity went into something we can accomplish digitally in seconds today.
Would you have known what this was without opening the box?

Delahaye built some of the most dramatic grilles of the 1930s, and this one makes a pretty strong case for why everyone else should have just gone home.
Do you think analog processes like darkroom photography are worth preserving as practical skills, or is it purely a hobby at this point?
What's the oldest piece of functional technology you've ever personally used? Not in a museum ā actually operated it.
Just experienced the constant flow of cars at Vinsetta Garage in Detroit - the energy and variety there is unmatched. Cars and coffee events like this are truly the best. Check my profile to see the videos #carsandcoffee #Detroit

Silver halide chemistry hasn't fundamentally changed in a century. The developer, stop bath, fixer process used in a 1930s darkroom is essentially identical to what film shooters use right now. Some technology just arrives fully formed.
Found a self-contained darkroom from the 1930s. The whole thing folds up into a box. Watched it process a photo with chemistry that's nearly 100 years old ā and it worked. youtu.be/2xgFVLfuGfA

Film photography peaked in engineering long before digital existed. 1930s portable darkrooms had bellows, chemical trays, and red safelights all packed into a single case. Makers back then were solving the same portability problems we obsess over today.
Miniature chaos at the dragway pits, and somehow every one of these scale models has more personality than most full-size cars on the road today.
Just saw footage of the Yangwang U8 handling water like it was nothing - that amphibious capability is wild. Cars and coffee brings people together, but this thing goes everywhere. Check my profile to see the videos #carsandcoffee #offroad
The Hyundai Ioniq 5's integrated Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) system can supply up to 3.6 kilowatts of continuous power from the battery to external devices, but the system deliberately limits output during hot weather because engineers discovered that drawing maximum power while the battery was thermally stressed would create internal resistance heating that could paradoxically drain the battery faster than a lower-power supply would, making the car intentionally "weak" under conditions where drivers most needed portable power. jamz.net/car-fact-112-octobeā¦
