real tragedy for a capable 9to5 employee is that they never get to experience a thriving environment where intelligence and the ability to produce above ordinary output are cherished and rewarded. there is something tragic about spending your life working with incompetent people

It's really freaking strange how much time you'll spend comforting others and talking them through a crisis, yet when it comes to your life you talk to yourself like an incompetent failure.

I have a bad habit I want to end. I'm not sure if it's holding me back, but it's been consistent for 20 years. If I'm realistic with myself and I asked anyone else without that habit, then yes myself and them would say it does. Despite the habit I've found more success in my life than many of my peers. Often times the bad habit has been rationalized with that success. "Well I did this..." or "I made this much..." or "I know lots of people with that habit that still don't do what I do." All rationalizations. But compared to some of the people at the highest level ( .1% of the people here) - I am no better than a homeless person. It sounds harsh but that's the reality of most of the people at the very top of their game - there's them and then there's everyone else. The bad habit served me once in my life and was what I needed, but I am long past that point now. I've cut it out in the past and oscillated between periods of ease and higher purpose and periods of intense struggle. In the short term, there is never a life improvement from cutting it out. The only improvements are from whatever positive thing in my life that overtook it. There's stress, anxiety, a rewiring of my brain chemistry that is torturous at times. Something happens, I rationalize and the bad habit comes roaring back. If I was away for awhile, I realize immediately that I don't even like it anymore but it's too late at that point. The habit is the default. It's safety against fear and doubt. But it's also imprisoning. Kind of like the bubble boy, safe in his ball because it's all he knows only to one day have the bubble break and for him to realize he had outgrown the need to to live in there. The difference is in 2023, I awakened to what the triggers are for that bad habit. I can't believe it took me so long. Any work I had ever done prior to the awakening of the triggers was - "I must end this." But never how or why it became a thing to begin with. I knew my anti-vision, but I never identified the greater why to carry me through the hard times. The reality is the answer was there all along. I also hadn't realized I needed more than to stop running and to start chasing. The funny thing is that is so nihilistic and I'm not even a nihilist. love y'all.

Ask a sidekick guy what it’s like being a sidekick and watch him say he’s not a sidekick. Buddy ur a sidekick.

Happiness is an idealistic lover. We glorify and venerate her in ways that never fully align with reality. And just when we think it's ok to give into her completely, she leaves us in the middle of the night. Only occasionally checking in to ask us " u up?"

I’m at an AI networking event thing. This dude with dreadlocks cried while talking and said AI gives him his humanity back because Claude reminds him what his kids like to eat

Waking up and deciding to hit the coffee shop to work is just deciding to not work that hard that day.

Social dynamics is something every single person should study, not just nerds who can't talk to girls. So many problems in life would never occur if every single person read Crucial Conversations and understood how their communication made them relate to the world and the people around them. Mfs will really blame astrology or some other nonsense rather than just learning to communicate well.
