simpel solutions, stop taxing merch, stop lying to artists about costs of putting on shows, include artists in more areas of revenue. the stories i could tell from my years touring are bananas. young artists on tour are the last to see any money.

Is it just me or do other musicians spend hours and hours learning various trades and products to promote their music when they could be making music? If so, why are we like this?
Me: Motown singers had to be so top notch back in the day because analogue tape was expensive so they had to be pitch perfect, rhythmically on point and nail a take in ONE try. I want to adopt that standard, man.

As a songwriter myself I always wondered what the mechanisms were that made a listener go deeper from that one song that hooks them vs adding to a playlist and moving on. Here I was, doing this exact thing myself. That's shit. Shit for the musician and shit for the listener. 2/
