No market movement can stop me from working on what I believe in. I often wish others had the same resolve.
The Vertcoin Core development team just released v0.14.0 which hard-forks the Vertcoin network from block 1080000 to a new mining algorithm removing the current generation of ASICs. Everyone should upgrade ASAP! github.com/vertcoin-project/… #vertcoin #Lyra2REv3 #ASIC

It's not easy to be self-sovereign. We've been in nanny-states so long that we forget what it's like to have responsibility. Bitcoin management is just a preview of what's to come as we decentralize power.

That said, I think Bitcoin is a plan B here.
Society would be much better off if large banks - and especially Visa and MasterCard - we're prohibited from refusing to accept new clients, or cutting off existing clients, without a court order confirming illegality of the business.

Of all the absolute mountains of propaganda produced every election cycle, we're supposed to believe the minuscule fraction of Russian stuff (probably .000001% of total propaganda produced) was somehow decisive. No one has *ever* explained how that even remotely makes sense.

To the folks at Stellar that are struggling with the very hard problem of fairly issuing a new currency; I am delighted to inform you that a certain S. Nakamoto solved the problem many years ago with a mechanism called "Proof of Work"
Vertcoin Core versions prior to 0.13.3 have now split from the main chain as the inflation vulnerability they contain has been exploited. If you haven't upgraded already, do so now as you are on a forked chain with an inflated supply.

You may have seen today's MSM talking points about Bitcoin boiling the oceans. (What a coincidence that all these articles came out simultaneously!)

Good work from @AlethioEthstats. As they point out, the fact that EOS had massive outflows from the crowdsale contract DURING THE SALE is hugely problematic. Why did they depart from the established best practice and do this?

Why can't we use something cheaper like wood, aluminum or even paper instead of reinforced steel for our vault?
This is essentially what you're asking when you complain about the cost of proof of work.
