Aerial turned 18 in November. My son did the same in January. A time for reflection then. On being on the cusp of change, and how Kate Bush shows us the true meaning of life can be found in the everyday.

New post on the complexities of being a contemporary @MassiveAttackUK fan and also a Bristol resident - the unspoken tension between solidarity with their activism and a hometown nostalgia for early 90s afterparties.

Can't retailers just do more with less / not have so many employees if they can't afford them / spend less on avocado toast etc. Or is that purely for marginalised citizens we choose not to help rather than huge corporates who choose to look after themselves?
Never mind football, LIFE is seen VAR. But as in sport, access to endless replays from all angles seemingly fails to get us to any kind of agreed, objective truth. Tribal loyalty frames what we see. And yet we will never step back from the technology now we have it. Game's gone.
To narcissists, anything other than fawning adoration is an attack. They can't be wrong, at fault, or laughed at. They will swallow the world in order to prove it wrong. But it's never enough: they're hollow. So they pick new fights, over and over again. As we're finding out.
We recently started a thing for/with our 11 yr old daughter: female excellence on display, an album cover calendar placed prominently in our hallway. She’s chosen the first three. This was August.

Channel 4's coverage is wild. Logan Roy arguing with Boris Johnson, and now Michael Cohen meeting Stormy Daniels IRL for the first time. MLK III bearing witness. I have a (fever) dream.
So weird how it was all 'she will be queen consort' because of all the Diana/Queen sycophants and also cos Charles was scared of mummy actually, and now she's all The Queen and no even even blinks, not a peep in fleet street, I mean is there a superinjunction or something?
Got this and immediately thought someone had mistakenly pressed a two-year-old newsflash button. Then thought, oh they mean Camilla #AbolishTheMonarchy
I have a gig review up at @bristol247 - the spellbinding folk-jazz of @arooj_aftab in her "sexy villain era", from @Bristol_Beacon on Friday.

Oh good, Justin Webb's talky bit.
Kamala worries people, apparently. There's "a fissure."
Also "there will always be people who use violence" and we can't really know for sure what will happen with it, so 🤷... (Let's not mention Trump's explicit triggering of it.)
And yet trauma is, and so is wealth, and so, it appears, is the capacity to fight extremely hard for the status quo and for the wealth of some over the dignity of others.

"My natural world is a biblical paradise, within which I set my human dramas of suffering & transcendence. A world of metaphor, where nature comes alive with the promise of God & the stars hang in the air like questions.”
On Nick Cave's best album at 20.

So, here's some thoughts on Abattoir Blues/The Lyre Of Orpheus at 20. Yes, 20. Writing this helped me work out why There She Goes, My Beautiful World makes me cry, and reminded me bands should have at least two of every instrument. What a fucking record.

Can't believe I missed Gilbert and George live.
A nice review of our @TheRestHistory Royal Albert Hall show in @thetimes - thank you @nfmusic.
I see you deducted a star for Tom's singing. Sad.
