My #wine pairing for #NationalAppleDay. 'Sagwaju' makgeolli, a Korean-style rice wine, this one with Hudson Valley apples and made in Brooklyn by Hana Makgeolli. Sense of season meets sense of place and sense of tradition. #winewriter – at Maplewood, NJ

I thought my figs were done, so since I still have some prosciutto, and other sources for figs, I grilled more prosciutto-wrapped figs. When I'm feeling ambitious, I pipe a goat cheese mixture in before wrapping and grilling.
Yes, my guests have moaned audibly.

I get why a coach who needs to win-now would go down this path, but still...this breaks my hoops heart.
Kevin Willard admits he isn't recruiting any high school players this year 👀
"We're not recruiting a high school kid this year... just because of the fifth-year rule. We have six guys that can come back for a fifth year. So, I'd much rather have one of my players come back, than bring in a high school kid"

Josh Hart cannot feel part of his shooting hand.
He hurt his right ring finger in the 2025 playoffs. He had a procedure on it on July 16 of last year and was supposed to be fine by the fall.
He was not fine.
By November he was telling people he had nerve damage in his shooting hand and that the ring finger had gone numb.
He kept playing.
Understand what a shooting hand is for a basketball player. The whole thing is feel. You cannot see the ball when you release it. You go by what your fingers tell you as it leaves.
His stopped telling him.
Now here is the part that does not make sense.
Playing an entire season that way, Josh Hart shot 41.3% from three point range.
That is the best mark of his career. Better than any year when the hand worked.
He also averaged 12.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists across 66 games for the New York Knicks.
In Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals he scored 26 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers, a playoff career high, in a 109-93 win.
And in June the New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs four games to one and won the NBA championship.
It was the first title that franchise had won in 53 years. The last one was 1973. There are grandparents in that city who were children the last time it happened.
So today people started asking Josh Hart again about the finger. When is he getting it fixed. What is the next surgery. How long will he be out.
He answered it himself, publicly, and then said he was done answering it.
"Just so I don't got to answer this question anymore. There is no other surgery for me to get besides a joint replacement. If I get a joint replacement, I can't play with it and my career is over. So it will be wrapped until I retire."
Read that last sentence again.
There is one procedure left that would fix his finger, and having it would mean he never plays basketball again. So he is not having it. He is going to tape the finger up every single day until the day he retires, and then live the rest of his life with whatever it becomes.
Now the honest part. Playing hurt is not automatically admirable and plenty of athletes have wrecked themselves chasing one more season. This is a real tradeoff and he is the one who has to live in that hand at 50 years old.
But he is 31, he is a former Villanova national champion who went 30th in the draft and got traded on draft night, and he just helped end a 53 year drought in the loudest city in America with a hand that does not fully work.
He is going to keep taping it.
