The issue with AI is the people, not the tech. Devs have devoted their lives to a craft. Instead of focusing on how new tools can help them achieve the previously impossible, we have huge swaths of people who have never accomplished anything frothing at the mouth at the prospect of obsoleting people better than them. Directly spurred on by the execs of top "labs" marketing to the lowest of men.
Bullshit article by someone who doesn't know reverse engineering in the slightest
AI decomps are often unintelligible and the more complex a game is, the more tokens you will need/money you will spend to make a mediocre or bad decompilation
congrats ig, so easy
A video game reverse engineering community is shutting down entirely because AI has completely hollowed out the community. What used to take talented decompilers many weeks or months of work is now done immediately by AI

So like, can someone explain to me how a recomp helps with modding? Because I heard some people say it but I don't get why
Atualizacao sobre o port da ultimate do Goku UI para o Budokai 3 Recomp:
-Está bem cru ainda, mas a cada resultado fica melhor
-A Skill foi criada do zero, sem substituir já existente do jogo

Just truly upsetting how quickly this scene became invaded by clout chasers, self aggrandizing posers and people who simply do not give a fuck about games. I'm so tired of this.
decomp.dev, a site to track decomp progress, is being sunsetted after 2 years. this is due to a lot of reasons but i'll cover the main reasons in this thread.

with the sunsetting of decomp.dev, people really need to come to terms with just how much damage vibecoders have done to our community and OSS in general. encounter is a fellow dusklight dev and friend, seeing people treat him as replaceable in the scene is upsetting

To the maker of this, I appreciate you wanting to make something great.
However, maybe a 3DS Flappy Bird clone would've been a better first 3DS homebrew project than a whole MKWii Port
AI may be helpful, but learning technical concepts is even more helpful I hope you understand.
If my previous tweets on this weren't enough, the recomp titled "pc port" looks off, has a lot of weird input lag, timing for tech is completely different and inconsistent etc.
if the person making these would have any experience playing, this would've been caught immediately
This quoted post is unavailable.
I'm already seeing some actually good modders and developers demotivated from doing their hobbies because of the influx of AI generated garbage we're currently seeing everywhere
guys these projects are eye-candy, they're a mess under the hood you can do 100x better.
So one thing that becomes increasingly apparent is that AI bros have no idea what they're actually saying
A recomp and a port are 2 completely separate projects. A recomp and an emulator wrapper are 2 completely separate projects. Here:
A PC Port is, again, something different. It modifies the game's source code to run on a different machine. That makes it game-specific and usually the most performant project of the 3.
For this, the game's source code must be visible, either as a leak or a decompilation.
I say this because each game on archive.org (not a very good place to put pirated copies btw) is called a "PC Port", when the tweet says "Recompiled games list". These 2 are not the same thing.
An AI bro doesn't care because they don't even know the difference.
