What an atrocious experience with @YatraOfficial I had booked a ticket that promised a date change fee of 300 and a cancellation fee of 2000₹. Since my dates changed I assumed it should be simple. Right. Well this is India nothing is simple. There was a number mentioned on the ticket. I call it 124-3322980 for the past 24 hours and I keep getting the message all routes to this number are busy. Thank you yatra for the sense of nostalgia taking me to the 90s. There was an email address so I sent an email asking for a change. Since lowly intern promptly gets back saying that there are no flights available on the date I requested. Mind you this was between Bangalore to Hyderabad which has 15-20 flights everyday. The irony was that their own app was showing the flight availability on my requested date. I raise it on x and receive a prompt reply asking for the reference number and then silence. I then search out their domestic flight support and hold for 25 minutes before the call got automatically disconnected. I then realised that it's easier to cancel rather than break my head trying to get through to the impenetrable defences of yatra customer care. I had the option to cancel the ticket and I did it and booked a new one on my requested date. The kicker. There was an airline cancellation fee of 2000 and a yatra cancellation fee of 400. They have the balls to charge a convenience fee of 625 over and above that. Unbelievable. The sad thing is that I can't even say I won't choose yatra again because the other alternatives like makemytrip, easemytrip and Cleartrip that smartbuy offers are equally scummy.
