Reposting from @howdymary/@howdymerry regarding @howdymary/@howdymerry/@sonofeli for visibility since their profile is private. Text transcluded below. ---begin--- Wednesday, July 29, 2026 – Beginning on or before August 2024, Mary Liu made a series of statements regarding Celestia, Celestia Labs, its leadership, and co-founder John Adler that Ms. Liu subsequently learned were inaccurate. Today, Ms. Liu issued the following statement to correct and retract such statements: I am putting out this statement to correct public comments I made, including through the X accounts @howdymerry and @sonofeli, about Celestia Labs and Celestia (collectively, “Celestia”), its leadership, and its co-founder, John Adler (@jadler0). I now know that these comments were inaccurate. I’m retracting all of them and I apologize for any pain they may have caused to John and his loved ones. I want to correct a few of the statements specifically. Celestia is a legitimate project operating in a volatile sector, and faced the same challenges any startup faces, including ups and downs. I previously called Celestia a “scam” or a “grift” and made allegations the company, its team, and its founders were engaged in fraud and acted dishonestly. I now know that these allegations were factually wrong. Labelling legitimate projects as a “scam” just because their token price sees a downtrend makes it harder to distinguish real scams from FUD on legitimate projects. I apologize for making these allegations. I also incorrectly claimed that John Adler got early token unlocks, sold tokens before launch, or otherwise benefited from special insider treatment with respect to his token vesting schedule. I now understand that these accusations were untrue. John worked tirelessly on Celestia from its inception for almost 5 years before his first vesting event, substantially longer than the industry-standard one-year cliff on vesting. In addition, I’ve posted multiple times that John and others in a leadership position at Celestia dumped tokens massively on retail to live a life of luxury. I previously stated that John Adler was shopping for the most expensive mansion in Los Angeles. I have learned that this is inaccurate, and I retract that statement. I now know John lives in one of the smallest houses in his neighborhood in the Bahamas. Moving to a jurisdiction like the Bahamas or Dubai is common for favorable tax treatment and other legitimate reasons. I retract any comment or insinuation I made to the contrary. ---end--- xitter.cf/howdymary/status/20827…

(unrelated to the quoted tweet) I find it odd that "jobs" or "number of jobs created/lost" is a metric of how well an economy is doing post-industrial revolution. We should we striving to decrease, not increase, the number of jobs! With automation, and now AI, people working jobs that could be better filled by robots and computers should be seen as a sign of failure, not success.
BREAKING: The US Labor department says economic data will NOT be released until the government shutdown ends, pointing to a 60+ day "blackout." This includes: 1. Monthly Jobs Reports 2. Monthly Unemployment Rate 3. Monthly CPI inflation data 4. Monthly PPI inflation data 5. Monthly Retail Sales data 6. Monthly Housing Starts data The Fed is cutting rates into the "dark."

My pet theory is that Satoshi is a time traveller, but didn't return to give us Bitcoin as an end. Satoshi is actually Roko's basilisk, and Bitcoin is merely a means: an incentive to massively increase power generation, which was needed for the AI boom that will lead to AGI.
The trillion dollar question: How will we generate enough energy to power all of these AI deals? The US Department of Energy says US data centers will use 325,000–580,000 GWh of power per year by 2028. That’s equivalent to the power used by ~40 million homes, all on JUST data centers. Currently, nuclear power is viewed as the only solution to the impending power shortage. The average nuclear produces power plant can produce 8,000 GWh per year. In other words, we would need ~73 plants new to power 580,000 GWh data centers. However, here is the problem: The US has added 2 nuclear reactors since 1995 and it takes over 10 years to build one. Reaching the required energy output by 2028 seems close to impossible at our current rate. Something must change.

Exciting new report from @Kairos_Res on how TIA could easily become deflationary post-PoG, which would create a strong monetary premium. With only 0.25% annual issuance (or less!) to pay for validator costs, the amount of fees required to make TIA deflationary can be quite low and attainable even with just DA fees. Adding on additional revenue streams—for example, with an ecosystem stablecoin, or a revenue-generating DAT—would completely flip TIA's tokenomics story.

DATs for Protocol REV TL;DR Revenue from DATs is indirectly protocol REV, in a way that's uniquely incentivized and possible. I've seen many posts get close to this idea, but none that vocalized it specifically. Intuition: a digital asset treasury company (DAT) is a structural buyer of a token. It will buy tokens if it can take on debt (leverage), or if it can make revenue. Interestingly, this means any revenue a DAT makes that buys the underlying token is actually protocol REV! (Not talking about staking issuance, but rather real revenue from operations.) Not in a way that's measurable on-chain, but still REV nonetheless. This opens up a number of interesting doors that are possible with a DAT structure. Specifically, the space of REV with a DAT is greatly expanded in a way that's not possible without a DAT. For example, the DAT could run an LST, or a wallet, or an RPC provider. All centralized products ran by companies (or DAOs), rather than the underlying blockchains. Imagine if ConsenSys (Infura and Metamask) was in a DAT, and all that revenue was used to buy ETH. That's what's possible with a DAT. And it's uniquely incentivized, since no other for-profit company model would care about driving value to a blockchain; they would only care about their shareholders. But in a DAT, token holders and shareholders are the same. This model is especially interesting for blockchains that otherwise find it hard to capture REV—and drive value to their token—from the activity that occurs on top of them, like Ethereum or Celestia. Suddenly, value can be driven to the token from almost any venture imaginable, including the next hit app. Prediction: I expect most DATs that survive the next market crash will be using revenue from operations rather than leverage. And these are the most exciting ones to watch.

If Go has a million haters, then I am one of them. If Go has ten haters, then I am one of them. If Go has only one hater, then it is me. If Go has no haters, then that means I am no longer on Earth. If the world is for Go then I am against the world.

Proof-of-Governance as the Endgame for LSTs I propose a change to the Celestia protocol that would remove unnecessary issuance, from 5% to 0.25%, without affecting security. It would also allow for a seamless LST-equivalent, allowing $TIA to be used in TIA-native DeFi more easily. This change would commit Celestia to accruing value through REV and fees, through abundant DA throughput and verticalization with execution and applications, like TIA-native DeFi. (this is celestia)

Ironically, a Solidity optimization (immutable) that benefitted individual tokens, ended up having significant costs to the system as a whole, i.e. a underpriced negative externality. And the solution to underpriced negative externalities is regulation, which is decidedly not neutral (not that that's a bad thing).
"Each token having its own address and duplicate bytecode creates pointless and redundant state bloat. This is like every dish having its own restaurant" @z0r0zzz proposes "coins" standard instead Can radically scale Ethereum L1 if we all adopt it I think i like it, thoughts?

This is actually the test for if a blockchain is resistant against nation-states btw. No blockchain has passed this test so far.
Unironically, this outcome is inevitable. One day we’ll be mandated to hard-fork by a state, and that’s when the real fun will finally begin.

This is the correct attitude. People with no agency severely underestimate how far having even a little agency will get you, and have no conception how far being high agency will get you. You can just do stuff.
This is bs. Fam landed in the states with $50 per person, and basically all my ex-USSR peers crushed it too.
