The protesters called him a traitor and chanted "long live Hamas." A reminder that this was never about recognising Palestinians' humanity. It was about denying Jews theirs.

🇪🇹 Ethiopia War Update 13
📍 Ethiopia preparing for a major offensive. Sources in Ethiopia say the Ethiopian army has finalized preparations for a large-scale offensive against Eritrea after consolidating its positions in Tigray. The reported plan is to launch attacks on three fronts simultaneously.
Government sources claim that up to 1 million troops will be deployed for the operation.
📍 Tigray-Eritrea military coordination. Credible information indicates that Tigrayan and Eritrean forces have established unified command and control structures. With Tigrayan forces withdrawing toward the Eritrean border to link up with Eritrean forces, the military situation is rapidly changing.
The coming weeks we will see fierce fighting and a major escalation along the Ethiopia-Eritrea border.
📍 Horn of Africa leaders meet in Egypt. Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud have travelled to Egypt for high-level meetings as regional tensions continue to rise.
More than 20 African heads of state and government officials are gathering in New Alamein City for the inaugural Alamein Africa Forum, taking place from October 2–4. The forum focuses on African trade, investment, economic integration and continental cooperation.
President Isaias Afwerki is expected to meet Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi as tensions between Ethiopia, Eritrea and Egypt reach a new level.

My family lived through the establishment of the state of Israel and what he calls the “Nakba.” The Holocaust was nothing like the events of the “Nakba” where my grandfather was told to flee by Arab leaders (not Jews) so the Arabs could “defeat the Jews.” He refused, and all the Arab residents who stayed were given citizenship. Those who fled, a large number by choice, were not permitted to return, as often happens in war. That is a catastrophe, a “nakba” of their own making. But there was no choice in the Holocaust, there was no citizenship for those who stayed. You are intentionally comparing a war and a genocide. They are not the same.

Prominent Gazan journalist Motaz has now revealed that media in Gaza was produced under duress and with heavy self-censorship due to journalists’ fear of Hamas. That has enormous implications for western media, celebrities and human rights organizations who all spent three years of war telling us to trust the journalists on the ground. We now must question if any of the information coming out of Gaza from these journalists was subjected to any reasonable verification process. Here is Motaz with some of his friends.
