Local public library doesn't keep records of what you borrowed for privacy reasons. I get it but what number in the Wings of Fire series were we on? (there are 20 of them).

Global annual tin production is 375k tons. A wood pallet holds a ton and it doesn't care what that ton is of. If you filled a Walmart parking lot with a single layer of wood pallets that comes out to 375k pallets.

Local hardware and bigbox stores don't list a 3 foot 12 AWG extension cord. Amazon lists dozens. I'm all for selection and ease of purchase but I'd also like to not burn my house down. I feel very strongly about that.

I don't like any ticketing system I've ever used. Nobody does. They get reinvented constantly by tech companies and are never very good. But you know who really really shouldn't have a custom ticketing system? Our school district. This is not anywhere near your core competency.

Apparently the US Congress has been avoiding closing the "airgun loophole" for 225 years. Now is the time to act. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girard…

Brick (2005) and Brick (2025) are different movies. I'll let someone else argue about international trademark and copyright law.

check for a local Master Gardener plant sale near you. Just scored some Maypop and (native) Beauty Berry for $2/ea. They also had bareroot pawpaw and persimmons. No sedges though.

If your neighbors have a rescue dog named Diesel maybe be more cautious than I am. Free puncture wound! but not on my bowling hand.

it's been long enough that I'd forgotten that puncture wounds are my least favorite variety of wound.

That got less interesting real fast. It mainly juggles dictionary definitions and flips between the first, second, or third one above the fold when you add "to regular people". I was a bit jiggered by the first one which was "what is an apologetic [to regular people]"

I'm not super proud of this, but asked and answered. You can figure out the first question I asked, right?

I read it in a book, The Puzzle Palace maybe? There was a spy for the Soviets who worked for a three letter agency. After he was discovered they worked backwards to figure out how to stop it from happening again. During his interview he mentioned having sex with chickens.

So if you're wondering why the FBI had a rule against bestiality in the first place, it is because of the chicken fucker.

In this house we don't believe the CAP Theorem is a theorem at all. It is at best a guide and at worst marketing. /do we still do subtweets, is that still a thing?

Feelings towards AI don't map directly to people (and they shouldn't). If someone says something dumb to me they're an idiot. An unreliable narrator is a fool. Somebody who lies to me? If it is a person there is no walking that back. You are done. How does that map?

An example in the hour since I tweeted that: I told it to fix some DATABASE_URL management. It added `if`s directly inside NPM scripts, and a conditional node invocation in CI running an inline JS script. About 20 hunks in the diff. After I corrected it: +0 lines, +1 word.
