Lynx Legend Sylvia Fowles’ No. 34 went into the rafters at Target Center last night.
I wrote about a wonderful celebration of a truly special, one-of-a-kind human being — Sweet Syl — whom I will remember for everything fans didn’t see.

It's great how the NBA has made tracking data public and how granular the data is getting for fans. This is cool!
At the same time, I hope the WNBA isn't treated as an afterthought. The NBA made tracking metrics public in 2013. Synergy in '15, 2S in '17. The W deserves the same.
The NBA today announced a range of new and enhanced digital experiences for the 2026-27 season designed to keep fans connected to live games in real time and make it easier to watch the action across the platforms they use every day.

LaMelo Ball on Jaden McDaniels
"Love Jaden. I mean, 6'10", can move, long, play defense, cut backdoor, shoot the 3. I mean, really anything you need. Damn near a 2k player."

Jonathan Kuminga talked today about feeling comfortable in Minnesota and what's contributed to him acclimating quickly.
"I think I'm very comfortable. I think part of it for me is just being around these guys everyday. I think if it was stuck people, stuck up personalities, I wouldn't be that comfortable. But I feel like everybody's personality is very open and welcoming."
JJ McCarthy’s last 5 games when he plays more than 10 minutes. 4 starts 4-0 record in starts.
If he starts week #7 he will again be the NFL’s youngest starting QB at 23yrs

This framing - "how committed is Jalen Hurts to football?" - is so problematic. Glorifying life threateningly bad medical decisions is not it.
Everyone in the Eagles org involved in the decision quite literally put his life at risk to play one football game. Heads should roll.
It was wildly irresponsible — and that’s an understatement — that the Eagles allowed Hurts to play in London knowing he had blood clots AND didn’t put him on blood thinners before the flight back.
Hope he makes a full recovery and has no flare-ups post-recovery

Valkyries shot 23/63 FG (36.5%) and won 63-47 (+16) in the 33:29 Gabby Williams played in Game 1
They shot 2/15 FG (13.3% !!) and lost 17-5 (-12) in the 6:39 she sat --> a 45.5 ORTG.
Golden State posting a 73.3% DREB% (78th percentile) despite Atlanta not being able to throw it in the ocean from 3 was a huge factor in their Game 1 win.
Valkyries closed on a 13-4 run, holding the Dream to 1-12 shooting in the final 6:29.
Idk how any prospective free agent could watch that game in that environment and not want to be part of that.
Amazing to see what the Valkyries have built in such a short time.

Forward Enrique Freeman is being waived today by the Wolves, per source. Wolves will keep the 2-way he had open to see what options present themselves over the next few days

Wolves let go of Enrique Freeman. They now have an open two-way roster spot to go along with Rocco Zikarsky and Zyon Pullin

If you're watching this thinking Gabby Williams has been a one-woman team for the Valkyries, the numbers bear it out.
Just needs a few threes to drop to really make a comprehensive impact

Prime example of why @JaceFrederick is my pick for Minnesota's most underrated sports writer.
Does a great job blending reporting and analysis, and also comes up with creative ideas like this one to keep things fresh over the course of a long season.

Isaiah Evans was 11/48 (22.9%) from 3 through four summer league and two preseason appearances.
He's 4/5 tonight, in what has been his best shooting game as a pro, including a trio of deep hits above the break.

Edwards, Ball, McDaniels, Kuminga, Gobert, Dosunmu, Hyland & Lyles will not play tonight & did not make the trip to Chicago.
Chris Finch before the game...
"This game is extremely intentional. We treat it almost like a baseball split-squad game. Half the roster stayed back home & practiced today & we get these guys here who get a chance to play extended minutes."
