I've now had a chance to read all 40 pages of the Coutts dossier on Farage and it's 9 pages of internal risk assessment discussion (1-4, 8-12) 29 pages of evidence (5-7, 13-38) referred to in the risk assessment pages, 1 page of decision (39) and 1 page of glossary (40). 1/9

Nigel Farage fell below the financial threshold required to hold an account at Coutts, the prestigious private bank for wealthy customers the BBC has been told. It also understood that he was offered a normal account at Natwest which owns Coutts. People familiar....

Theresa May: "I also want to say to members of my own party that it is doubly important for us to show that we are prepared to act when one of our own - however senior - is found wanting." This ex PM appears to be telling the current PM Sunak he should be in House of Commons and should vote against Johnson, rather than abstaining. Biggest moment so far

What people care about is their day-to-day interactions with the justice system: efficient, fully functioning courts, effective and humane prisons, a healthy legal aid system. These should be the priorities of the MoJ, not legislative changes to the human rights regime.

Here is a very short thread on this news story, and how the story has become bigger than it probably deserves to be: If you read the text the BBC put out here, it says "Public *asked* to swear allegiance to King Charles" That's not quite the case...

Come and work with me for a few months! I have learnt so much more in this role than I could have in any other before pupillage. It’s such a good experience for any aspiring barrister! It’s also a lot of fun working with @McDermottQC and @michellehornsb9
I will be advertising for a legal assistant later this week. Typically a job for someone who has undertaken the Bar Practice Course but who has not yet got pupillage. The ad will go live on Indeed tomorrow or Monday.

As Parliamentarians, these signatories can indeed take action “to ensure no article like this is ever published again”. It’s called - “legislation”. But if they’re afraid to legislate for censorship - as they are, and should be - they shouldn’t try to censor by the back-door. – at Guatemala
I welcome Jeremy Clarkson's acknowledgement that he has caused hurt #notanapology- but an editorial process allowed his column to be printed unchallenged
