President Donald Trump’s administration has detained more than 50 spouses and parents of U.S. troops as it rolls back immigration protections for military families, an AP investigation has found. apnews.com/article/military-…
The Trump administration has detained more than 50 spouses and parents of active-duty U.S. military service members, the AP found.
Yet military recruiters continue to promise immigration benefits for soldiers' families even as the administration rolls back these protections.
We found soldiers had to take leave of their duties to care for small children after their spouse was detained.
In another case, a soldier who was deployed to the southern border and spent nine months supporting U.S. Customs and Border Patrol had his own father detained.

ICE officer who shot Colombian man in Maine has history of threatening behavior and mental illness, family and court documents say. apnews.com/article/ice-david…
BREAKING (AP): The ICE officer who shot a Colombian migrant in Maine has struggled with serious mental health issues since early childhood and has a history of terrifying and violent behavior, according to relatives. He should never have been given a badge and gun, they say.
Last winter, David Brouillette told his ex-wife that someone should slit her throat in a voicemail. That's about when he joined ICE, she said.
An immediate relative said he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder as a kid.
His daughter also said he was suicidal at times.
