A 12-year-old girl in Miami was walking home from a friend's house when three boys grabbed her, took her into a community garden, and held her down on a couch while one of them raped her. When she yelled for them to stop, one of them grabbed rocks off the ground and forced them into her mouth. That's the cops' own description: "so she shuts up."
You never heard about that one on CNN or in the NYT
But you've heard about Cornell every single day for a month.
Outside Philly, a college girl falls asleep drunk on a friend's bed in his dorm. She wakes up more than once that night, and every time she does, there's a man raping her. Two different men.
Her "friend," the guy whose room it was, filmed her. On the video she says "No... turn that shit off" and swats the phone away. He puts it right back in her face. Then he sends pictures and videos of her to somebody.
She reports it the next morning and gets a rape kit. The cops find two guys in the exact sweatshirts she described, and the DNA matches both of them.
The guy who filmed her got charged with invasion of privacy. Not charged as an accessory, no sexual exploitation even though it was his room and he invited her over.
No outrage. No protests.. Nothing..
Mesquite, Texas. A 17-year-old agrees to meet up with a guy she met in a parking lot. She goes to his house, he takes her upstairs, pulls out a Glock, and presses the gun into her head and tells her he's in charge.
She's held at gunpoint three separate times and forced to have sex with two of them and give oral sex to five, some of it while she's unconscious. It only stops when she starts puking.
Then the cops find out that house already had multiple reports of sex offenses. Four men arrested.
No network specials. No marches. No governor. No senators or celebrities posting about it. Local news for a few days and then nothing.
So what's the difference?
The men charged in Philly and Mesquite are Black. All three boys in Miami are Black. If those were white frat boys at an Ivy League school, you'd know every one of their names by now.
Two: Cornell is useful. Kathy Hochul and Letitia James are both on the ballot November 3rd. James posted that what this young woman was "forced to endure is horrific and unacceptable" three days BEFORE she got appointed to be the impartial prosecutor. She has never prosecuted a criminal case at this level.

Charlie Kirk was murdered for his beliefs and conservative values. Senator Slotkin wants that to be a message of deterrence for young people.

As a young conservative staffer, I’ve always thought of progressive staffers as honorable opponents in the war of ideas, messaging, and political strategy. I’m learning they do not think of us the same way.

Muslim rioters in France recognize the shop owner as a fellow Muslim just before nearly destroying her store by accident.
Not a single Muslim-owned business or mosque has been looted in the riots.

Platner had a Nazi tattoo. And Elissa was fine. Peltola called her staffers faggot and N word in anger, and Elissa is fine. El-Sayed won’t disavow the muslim freaking brotherhood, and Elissa is fine.
But if you have an R next to your name, Elissa will use government to come after you. Not the Nazi. Not the racist & homophobe. Not the muslim terrorist. The Republican. That’s how low she’s sunk just 2 years on the job. She’s literally becoming Gollum as evil consumes her.
I’d be ashamed to work for such a vile person.

Sky News have taken the utterly bizarre stance of blaming right wing social media accounts for sharing footage of far left extremism sweeping across France and beyond.
Let that sink in.
Left wing protesters, some waving Palestinian flags, are smashing up cities, looting businesses and clashing with police.
Yet somehow, the people sharing footage of this destruction are being portrayed as the problem.
Here's an idea, Sky News.
Stop blaming the people exposing the chaos and start blaming the extremists actually causing it.
The people filming and sharing the destruction aren't the ones destroying Europe.

Good question. A big reason we do this is to show American audiences how bad things can get without freedom of speech. It’s especially jarring when it’s Britain, America’s mother country, from which we borrowed, and alongside which we developed, so much of the small-l liberal tradition.
Britain now arrests thousands of people a year for speech-related offenses, yet the issue receives remarkably poor coverage there. When I bring it up with Brits, too often the response is, “Well, they’re bad people. Who cares?”
My mother is British, and the UK and EU’s approach to social problems reminds me of her habit of declaring uncomfortable subjects off-limits at the dinner table. You’ll be shocked to learn that this did not make the problems go away.
That same refusal to confront reality is helping fuel the unrest we’re seeing on the European continent, and it will lead to further instability and increasingly draconian measures. Yet European censorship is defended with astonishing arrogance, as though keeping people ignorant of what their fellow citizens actually think is obviously for their own good.

Why even cover free speech issues in Britain? They clearly don't have freedom of speech, tho they are good at pretending they do.

Aujourd’hui, il donne de ses nouvelles via une story Instagram. Il remercie sincèrement toutes les personnes qui lui ont écrit ou sont venues le voir en personne :

I really don’t wanna hear lectures about “massive wealth inequality” from a guy whose minor children own golf course courses
From the high schools of France to the streets of Madrid to the universities of Tirana, young people are telling their governments the same thing: in an age of massive wealth inequality, they want a future they can believe in.
In France, students and teachers are asking for safe schools, enough teachers and smaller classes.
In Spain, for affordable rent and housing.
In Albania, for good jobs and an end to corruption.
@JDVance says this is what happens when a nation lets in too many immigrants from the global south.
He is not just morally wrong, but misreading the moment.
The is what happens when nations let wealth and power accumulate in the hands of a few.
This is what happens when young people lose hope in their future.
In America, let us listen to our young.
We need an economic and political transformation.

Many years ago, NFL legend Troy Aikman came home to find two female fans swimming in his pool.
Aikman was a single man at the time. He called the police and had them removed. Michael Irvin laughed and said calling the police would've been the last thing he did.
This is the difference between self-control and self-indulgence. Could Aikman have probably slept with these women and had a story to tell his teammates? Sure.
Do you know what also could have happened? He could've been accused of r*pe or extorted or robbed and created chaos and destruction in his life. There are so many ways it could've gone sideways.
The most masculine trait in the world is self-control.
