I should add this: if you are going to ban it, ban the action, mags, etc. otherwise it could be purchased as a "hunting rifle" with a different stock, and a "military" style stock could be 3-D printed.

Yes, we should do what New Zeeland Did!
New Zealand implemented a ban on assault rifles following the Christchurch Mosque shootings on March 15, 2019. After the tragic attack, in which 51 people were killed and many others were injured, the New Zealand government, led by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, moved swiftly to overhaul the country's gun laws.
Key points of the ban and subsequent actions:
1. Immediate Response: Within a week of the Christchurch shootings, Prime Minister Ardern announced a nationwide ban on military-style semi-automatic (MSSA) firearms and assault rifles, as well as high-capacity magazines and parts that could convert firearms into MSSAs. The legislation passed with overwhelming bipartisan support.
2. Gun Buyback Program: A mandatory buyback program was introduced in conjunction with the ban. Gun owners were compensated for handing in the now-illegal firearms. Over the course of several months, thousands of firearms were turned in, with the government collecting over 56,000 weapons during this period.
3. Gun Law Changes: The legislation passed in April 2019, and further reforms followed in June 2020. These reforms included tighter licensing rules, harsher penalties for gun-related offenses, the creation of a firearms registry, and stronger vetting processes for gun buyers. The reforms also introduced new categories for firearms licenses and restricted the ability to import or sell banned weapons.
4. Public Reaction: While there was significant support for the changes, particularly from those affected by the Christchurch attack and from the wider public, some gun owners and lobbyists expressed concerns about the fairness of the buyback scheme and the impact on lawful gun owners.
5. Ongoing Measures: The gun law reforms are part of a broader public safety initiative in New Zealand, and the government has continued to focus on reducing the risks posed by firearms. The establishment of a gun registry has been one of the more critical ongoing measures to ensure compliance and track firearm ownership.
New Zealand's quick legislative response was widely praised internationally as a decisive move to prevent future tragedies of this nature.

Did you see Ted Cruz speak at the RNC? His speech just goes to show that he cares more about dividing us than representing the interests of Texans.
Colin Allred will fight for unity, and for ALL Texans. So please, chip in to help fire Cruz today.

The great thing about tax cuts is that they provide an incentive for more productive activities -- like, uh, spending lots of time and money trying to find and exploit loopholes in a badly conceived law taxpolicycenter.org/taxvox/d…

No women I know, and I've known many because of the job I held, could possibly agree with that picture. You may be right that it is male generated, that would make a lot of sense.

Republican rapist-loving women who've decided to vote with a misogynist white-supremacist political party, are something entirely different from the women that I know!
I don't know a single Democrat woman who would wear a garment designed to draw attention to her crotch.

Conservative MP Edward Leigh thinks disabled people and pensioners cost too much.
He claims £2350 to pay his Council Tax, and £2500 to pay his energy bills every year
But he isn't disabled or a pensioner, he is on £94,000
He should pay his self and cut the bloody benefit costs
