How well can models design icons? @andpoul and I benchmarked frontier and open weight models The results: they’re steadily improving execution, their choices often overly literal

How much more creative could models be by default? We asked frontier and open-weight models to design a landing page with “unique personality and taste” three separate times using the same business brief and images It almost looks like we got the same site

Text-to-image models show more visual variety on the same task but the results have their own flaws

At Fieldwork, we’re working to measure design variety so we can improve it Designers already push well beyond these defaults with better prompting, skills like @impeccable_ai, and tools like @withgraphical Still, it’s striking how often different models arrive at a very similar solution All outputs and methodology: fieldwork.software/eval/web-… Text-to-image results: fieldwork.software/eval/web-…

Why does this matter? Good icons make apps usable and distinctive. This process also offers a glimpse into evaluating models at logo design At Fieldwork, we're building better evals and data for design tasks. If you’re trying to improve your model’s design capabilities, reach out. We’d love to help Full benchmark with prompts used and outputs on our website: fieldwork.software/eval/icon…

linting agent PRs is standard today. doing so for design quality in those PRs is a logical next step. curious how designers are already doing something like this today
engineering is moving 10x faster. design review hasn't caught up. introducing Impeccable ..for PRs! a design review agent that simulates your users, uses your app, finds friction & slop. Impeccable’s design judgment in every PR. reply if you want in on the closed beta 👀

Never touched Hearthstone but the game mechanics, creation flow (with @NotionHQ driving the illustration pipeline), and the animations and performance for a project created over a weekend spark joy
As a Hearthstone Enjoyer, this is pure catnip. The card pack design alone, ayah 😍 Also I hope Gabe will show some of the bigbrain automations he set up behind the scenes to build this project...truly a Generational Vibe Coder Of Our Generations Vibe Coders. And finally, if you get my card in your pack, just know that it's basically the most OP insta-win pull possible and you will win every match no matter what.

Now that Instagram is more about Reels than photos, I no longer have one place to see the world through my friends' eyes. Instead, many of them have started posting photo journals on their own websites. So @charliedeets and I teamed up again to build Openfeed. It pulls photos from personal sites and brings them into a single curated feed.
