You probably use more Canadian technology than you realize. 🇨🇦 Shopify → E-commerce OpenText → Enterprise software Constellation Software → Software CGI → IT & consulting BlackBerry → Cybersecurity Lightspeed → Retail & payments Wealthsimple → Investing Hootsuite → Social media 1Password → Cybersecurity Wattpad → Storytelling Canada doesn’t have Silicon Valley. But it has quietly built its own tech ecosystem.

Tesla has nearly quadrupled the number of registered Cybercabs and hasn’t had a single major issue since rides began a month ago, with reviews broadly positive. That is the exact opposite of a “rocky” start.
Tesla’s Cybercab had a rocky first month in Austin. Now comes the hard part: expanding cnbc.com/2026/10/03/tesla-cy…

Tesla quadrupled registered Cybercabs in Texas from 45 to 169 during the first Austin month per DMV records, with no major safety incidents and tracked ongoing activity, though the article cites some rider complaints on waits and routing. cnbc.com/2026/10/03/tes… texasavtracker.com/tesla robotaxitracker.com

Oh. "A Globe and Mail investigation has found that Republican political operatives were on the ground in Alberta this year to assist the separatist campaign in its bid to leave Canada, while harbouring their own aspirations for the province to secede. The Globe also found that when Alberta separatist leaders went to Washington to meet with the U.S. State Department, they offered up key assets from the province’s resource portfolio, including access to fresh water and royalties on crude oil, in exchange for help transitioning to independence." theglobeandmail.com/canada/a…

As an Alberta MP you should probably know we are the only G7 country without a strategic oil reserve because we are the only G7 nation that is a net exporter of crude. National strategic reserves are maintained to meet an obligation to the IEA to hold 90 days of net imports on hand. That obligation for Canada is zero barrels. There is ~95 million barrels of private storage in Canada. Strategic reserves protect importers from supply disruption, not cost. Product released from reserves still generally enters the market at the global price. To truly get the price down, we need to resolve global challenges with supply and refining capacity. We’re keeping prices down in Canada by pausing the excise tax on gas, giving a groceries and essentials benefit to those who need it most, and working with provinces and companies to increase global supply, alleviating upward pressure.
Why doesn’t Canada profit from releasing oil and diesel from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve? Because we are the only G7 with no reserve. Our Conservative plan changes that. Build a strategic reserve to profit Canada, boost our dollar, lower fuel prices, and make us more independent: conservative.ca/cpc/emergenc…

let’s not mix religion and AI. I don’t know why the Pope needs to have an opinion on what’s going on with AI. He is an expert in Catholicism. Not technology.
NEW: According to a bombshell report in the New York Times, Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah threatened to walk out of Pope Leo XIV’s AI encyclical launch in May because the pope rejected the idea that machines can be conscious. Olah’s team then privately lobbied the pope’s advisers “to take the possibility of model consciousness seriously.” Pope Leo XIV held firm. For months, Anthropic has wined and dined theologians and religious scholars under nondisclosure agreements, hoping they would bless the idea that Claude has moral standing. thelettersfromleo.com/p/nyt-…

198 House Democrats OPPOSED the Stop Insider Trading Act, which bans shady stock trading by Members of Congress AND ensures Americans show a valid ID to vote. Today, Senate Democrats BLOCKED it. Never forget: The overwhelming majority of Democrats vote to ALLOW corruption and fraud. Shameful.

Actually Canada can easily afford this. Canada has a G7 economy, an AAA sovereign rating, and a quickly rising defense budget (set to hit 4% GDP by 2028). The only other G7 country with an AAA rating and low debt is Germany. Canada is now overtaking Italy to become the 5th largest defense spender in NATO (after US, GER, UK, FR). It will probably be spending almost as much as France by the early 2030s, making it tied for 4th in NATO. Canada also heavily prioritizes air and sea power for obvious reasons. Which is why it just agreed to one of the largest submarine export deals in modern history (12 new German-Norwegian SSKs). If curious about air forces that operate more than one fighter, can research online. Hint: many of these countries are smaller and/or poorer than Canada. And some of them operate not just 2 but 3 different fighters.

Seems doubtful- I don't think the Canadians have budget to build Gripens, buy F-35s, maintain logistics pipelines for both and operate both. My prediction: Canada will buy the Gripens, drop the F-35s and keep being a third rate air force dependent on the US for defense of their airspace.
