Today we had a chat with a Development Director who was encountering some issues migrating from an Access database to a commercial #CRM. In short, there was a good bit of friction due the CRM being "sales" focused rather than about donors and supporters.
You *can* make a tool attempt to do anything. And it's totally possible to bend a tool to your will and make it *work*. But wouldn't you like to avoid exhausting more resources and staff pain than necessary? And avoid the annual licensing and add-on fees?

1 votes • Final resultsSometimes a big bang implementation can be too much to bite off. Instead, start with a more focused approach. You will surely learn valuable lessons during a "Proof of Concept" phase while at the same time gaining valuable knowledge about how #CiviCRM functions.
Once you get to know CiviCRM better, you can approach the next phases of the project (feature requests) in a more efficient way by seeing how they *could be* incorporated into what already exists.
We highly encourage the use of a prioritization method like MoSCoW (lnkd.in/dsFfD2hE) to nail down the exact direction of the system.
