Some things are too small, too slow or too vast for a camera to ever show you. Esther Ikoro has them drawn by hand instead. Wait, What?! is her animated science series. Each episode builds an entire hand-drawn world around one scientific idea, illustrated and animated by Moriz Oberberger, told through narration and metaphor. The first five episodes have passed 700,000 views. Esther came to this from public health, with an MPH from Illinois. She hosts the natural science channel See You Outside, works with Discovery Education's Mystery Science answering questions students send in, and has appeared on CBS's Mission Unstoppable. Over the next year she's making more, on plants, animals and natural phenomena. "I want to contribute to the landscape of iconic science media." She's our eighteenth O'Shaughnessy Fellow of 2026.
