You should post that rocket grunt with the lv 17 rattata in the hideout you’re supposed to challenge after Pryce

A shame they could go unappreciated
I really dig the extra scratches and wear on common points of contact. Tells a little story that she doesn’t let her face or center mass get hit
I’m not in a hurry, I’m bored off my tits. If you aren’t playing emerald/platinum specifically, you can’t trust early Pokémon NPCs to even pick their best moves. Even those games only save that level of “challenge” for bosses.
It’s reasonable to want these bad fights over faster
Nobody’s arguing the job can’t be done by everyone! The problem is it’s not fun to watch a skarmory swift all the trainers to death when you know the same 10 pokemon everyone always uses can do the same and let you move on faster.

why is it such a herculean ask that every pokemon brings something to the table? What if somebody just likes mawile and wants to use it? Why do they have to get shackled to playstyles that drag out battles and don’t offer wins you can’t get more easily by ignoring your favorites?

Why would I do this 3+ turn setup when there are intimidate users and baton passers that can just fight normally? Mawile doesn’t suck because it can’t do anything, it sucks because it using it takes inordinately longer for no benefit. RSE doesn’t reward strategizing this much

You can still do this in a game with phys/spec split?

You can’t assume every playthrough’s single use TMs are going to every single hypothetical. Something that’s certain to happen however, is that enemy lairon is intimidated and it doesn’t have any unresisted moves either. EVs/IVs mean you’re going positive bc speed and flinches.
