Looking forward to @SANSInstitute SEC467: Social Engineering for Security Professionals tonight. Not looking forward to the midnight -> 8am course delivery (thanks to AEDT). Seemed like a great idea at the time of booking 😅

Creativity. The longer I work in the security and cyber industry the more I see creativity under utilised. That’s for both consulting and the in-house. There’s some fiercely creative people out there, but they’re hamstrung by superiors who aren’t willing to delegate.

It’s days like today I’m reminded that pulling the ‘born in Australia’ random life chance card is remarkable. Especially now I have kids. Imagine waking up to realise your family’s safety is on the line and you have minimal control over the situation.

You need a good offence and defence when it comes to influence. Learn how to influence. But also learn how to spot influence and reduce its impact. Not so that you can bend people to your will, so that you can make good ethical decisions that align with your own values.
