Drake is facing a lawsuit over “Janice STFU” from a songwriter who claims the song’s chorus is identical to a demo he wrote for Drake in both lyrics and melody ⚖️ Aviel Calev Hirschfield says he wrote the demo between December 2025 and January 2026 over an instrumental produced by FNZ, with a chorus inspired by Lykke Li’s “I Follow Rivers.” He previously co-wrote Beyoncé’s “Heated” with Drake. Hirschfield says he sent the demo to FNZ and other producers who work with Drake but never got a reply. He alleges the released chorus is “literally identical” to his demo’s chorus in lyrics, melody and cadence. “Fifteen seconds in, Avi was stunned to hear Drake perform word-for-word, note-for-note, the exact same chorus that he (Avi) had recorded and sent around to FNZ and other producers who work with Drake.” Hirschfield alleges Drake and the other defendants have refused to credit or compensate him and maintain that Drake wrote the chorus himself.
