I have a real career, i'm baller at some video games, I'm bad at others - it's okay to be bad at video games, it's okay to be slow to learning a video game, it's okay to be bad at a genre it's entirety, it's okay to venture out of your comfort zone and try new games only to be bad at them, it's okay to be bad at something when you haven't put enough drive or effort into not being bad.
But if your excuse for being bad at video games is "I have a job" instead of admitting you lack drive or effort, I think far less of you as a person because it's an insult to your own ability to learn far more than it is an insult to others who are better at something than you.
