PEAD is a well-documented stock market anomaly where a company’s stock price continues to drift in the direction of an earnings surprise for days, weeks, or even months following its earnings announcement.
It's a well-documented anomaly in global markets but rarely studied deeply in India.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 | Seasonality
Total observations: 180 months
Positive months: 105 (58.3%)
Negative months: 74 (41.1%)
Maximum drawdown = -60.48%
This occurred from the Dec 2017 peak to the Mar 2020 time period.
Average winning month: +5.85%
Average losing month: -5.29%
So the average magnitude of an up month is actually slightly larger than the average magnitude of a down month.
April is by far the strongest calendar month.
Average: +5.52%
Positive in 12 of 15 years
Hit rate: 80% 🔥
February is the weakest:
Average: -2.44%
Positive only 6/15 times
November + December
Both positive 11/15 times
73.3% hit rate each 👏
Big moves are not particularly rare
Monthly gain ≥ +5% 51 times
Monthly gain ≥ +10% 17 times
Monthly fall ≤ -5% 28 times
Monthly fall ≤ -10% 12 times
Monthly fall ≤ -15% 2 times
Monthly fall ≤ -20% 1 time
So there were 17 months with +10% or more, versus 12 months with -10% or worse.
But the extreme downside event was much larger:
Worst: -36.66%
Best: +22.38%
Among the 14 complete years from 2012-2025:
Positive years: 9/14 = 64.3%
Negative years: 5/14 = 35.7%
Average annual return: +18.04%
Median annual return: +14.33%
Best full year: 2021, +59.29%
Worst full year: 2018, -29.09%
2026 deserves a separate look:
Through September 2026, the return is approximately: +9.05% YTD
But the path has been volatile:
Jan: -4.71%
Feb: +0.30%
Mar: -10.19%
Apr: +18.44%
May: +0.73%
Jun: +3.99%
Jul: +2.53%
Aug: +3.06%
Sep: -3.09%
The key observation is:
March -10.19% to April +18.44%
That's a classic example of why looking only at annual returns can hide substantial intra-year volatility.
I do not see a reason to worry at all 🙏

Story stock is the most powerful concept introduced by @PradeepBonde and I'm 100% agree with pradeep they give very fast returns in very short time, and its also working in indian market from last 20years below are the few examples-

Over the years while reading concalls i have seen the following patterns. Categorizing them into these buckets will help you take better decisions:
1. Good now, clear ahead
2. Good ahead, gap until execution
3. Good now, hazy ahead
4. Bad now, visible recovery
5. Bad now, hope offered
6. Nothing now, nothing coming
Each bucket needs to be approached differently and will have an implication on your allocation and position mgmt. Also depending on your style you may give preference to a different bucket. But knowing this is quite helpful for clarity of thought.

Super excited for this fight! It’s going to be a very tough one for Islam. Garry has the height advantage, but let’s see, we all know who Islam is. 😤
If you’ve never watched MMA before, just watch this fight. For Indian fans, it’s on 16 Aug around 9:00 AM IST.
Red T-shirt guy is the perfect example of why you need regular physical activity. If you’re going to choose one sport, go for a combat sport. It builds guts and teaches you how to use your hands and body. Don’t be stupid saying, I play badminton/cricket. Be a man train in combat.
Sabse ch**tiya lagte hai mereko jo Pitbull rakhte hai,
Red tshirt bhai tu thoda or aaram se maar usko dard ho rha hai.

DAY2 : #BaseToBreakout - #ELECON
183 Days of Base → Breakout
Peak return without breaking 20MA: 120%
R achieved: 60R
Initial SL: 2%
ELECON spent around 6 months building its base before the eventual breakout. But the interesting part begins when you start spotting momentum inside the base.
A sudden momentum move often signals that something may be happening beneath the surface , a catalyst or accumulation that we may not yet be aware of.After the initial momentum, the stock paused near the pivot and then saw a sharp fall around earnings.
Most traders would probably ignore the setup at this point. It wasn’t an EP. It had fallen hard from the supply pivot. The setup looked damaged and neglected. But the stock didn’t break down further.Instead, it started getting tighter and tighter with time.
That contraction eventually resolved into a major expansion.
Starting a new Chart Series " #BasetoBreakout "
The idea is to find names that show exceptional base quality and then demonstrate real urgency to move.
Parameters :
- Quality and orderliness of the consolidation.
- Building Position at Lower Side of Base ( Catching Young Trend )
- How price behaved while building the base.
- What volume did during the breakout.
- How the stock behaved after the initial expansion.
- Whether it sustained a strong trend without repeatedly losing the 20MA.
The bigger objective is to identify names that delivered 30–100+% moves while staying above the 20MA throughout the major part of the move.
I've already shared hundreds of examples around Flags. Now I am Ready to Do this again for folks who want to sit on Bigger % move.
Note: I trade stocks that are already going up.For my long-side trading, the core idea is simple:Buy High. Sell Higher.
So, across all of the names we study, there is already persistent prior buying and an established upward trend.I'm not interested in finding stocks that are falling and trying to predict a reversal. That's the foundation of this entire chart series. Momentum strategies are fundamentally built around buying relative strength and participating in established trends rather than trying to call bottoms.
Suggestions for additional parameters are welcome. Let's build the study together.
#REDINGTON is most probably going to hit my SL. Meanwhile, My #INDSWFT position is cuddling with the upper circuit.
Added more to my position. Most probably, the chop zone is over for #COHANCE. 🤞
#SBCL ka UC hi is “excellent” season ka dukh khatam kar sakta hai. ✌️

The "PEAD" or "earnings surprise" investors who are selling stocks based QoQ declines or price action post earnings, will be learning some expensive lessons. So many examples in the last one month.
Buying an earnings surprise and selling one are completely different playbooks.
This difference only increases during a choppy market environment like this one.
