I had a feeling this was the case, but Sunny Mehta outright said it in a recent interview with NHL dot com:
“Because there is randomness at the position, I’m reluctant to invest significant assets there instead of in areas where the results may be more predictable.”

I would find it extremely hard to believe the #NJDevils would be in on either of these guys at this point in time.
Goaltending is the single most unpredictable facet of a hockey game and I doubt an analytics-centric organization is keen on spending significant capital on it.
