It’s incredibly demoralizing as an objective observer on this medium to witness most people echoing criticism of Eby for calling an election rather than criticizing the media who produced the Conservative win in BC. Mainstream media immediately labeled the election cynical.

If you receive tax-payer money then patients should be able to receive any publicly available treatment offered by the province. You didn’t want to offer the service, so you rightly lost tax-payer money.

PSA: If you're paying $120 a month for a "basic" cell plan, not including your phone, you're the problem, not your country, and certainly not your government.
Had to renew my cell phone today and once again totally SHOCKED at the prices of my pretty basic plan here in Canada 👀 $120 a month for just the plan, not including the phone. INSANE 😒

When I was CUPE, too many members opted out of picket duty but still complained endlessly about whatever agreement was eventually negotiated. This is how I see every BC voter who decided to sit this one out.

BC used to be the most beautiful province in Canada. Sadly that won't be the case over the next four years.

just so everyone is clear: this is only the first conservative government in BC in 90+ years *in name only*. social credit and the BC liberals were conservatives and they governed for decades. there’s a reason christy clark and gordon campbell were campaigning for the cons.

My mind is blown, BC. You thought you had it bad? You haven’t seen anything yet. Reality is about to hit hard, and you’re going to realize just how good you had it. I hope I’m wrong, but sadly, I don’t think I am. Just WOW. 🤦‍♀️

The problem is that if you vote & it doesn’t elect anyone, under our First Past the Post System, your vote does not count. If we were creating democracy today, we’d never use FPTP. It’s beyond time to embrace electoral reform. #BCElection2026
My wife said to me, “I begrudgingly went out and voted.” And you know what? She still showed up. Don't ever think your vote doesn't matter. IT DOES! You don't have to love the choices, but you should never underestimate the power of your voice. Get out and VOTE! 🗳️ #bcpoli

Meanwhile a hotel will supply unlimited fresh towels, even changing them on a daily basis, if you want. Plus, free all you can eat breakfast. Guess what people will be choosing 👀

Photo from Reddit. White nationalists just outside the BC Legislature this morning after a BC Cons supermajority. This group is Loyalist Pioneers, a white nationalist organization virtually identical to Second Sons. They've been active around Victoria for about a year & a half.

Only 48% of BC voters supported the BC Conservatives, yet the voting system has handed Lorne Doerkson's Conservatives 69% of the seats and 100% of the power. fairvote.ca/25/10/2026/bc-co…

For those of you who thought the visit from a Bedford Borough Council official to investigate our daughter Zoe’s (age 12) pretend teddy bear cafe was too ridiculous to be real, here is the arrival of official. This is totally legit. She really did show up at our property to investigate the illegal teddy bears having their coffee🧸🧸☕️☕️

They called the police on a three-year-old because he is good at soccer. Read that again. They called the cops on a toddler.A three-year-old. Because he can kick a ball better than the other kids on the field. Not because he assaulted anyone. Not because he had a weapon. Not because he was a danger to anyone. Grown adults watched a toddler play a sport and decided the appropriate response was to dial emergency services and send uniformed officers to deal with a child who has not yet started kindergarten.

It’s really funny how politics reveal people’s true colors. It shows you what they value, whose rights they’re willing to compromise, and what kind of rhetoric they’ll excuse. With that being said, I hate that BC elected a Conservative government.

I’m deeply disappointed about this result. I’m worried about what it could mean for health care, women’s rights, LGBTQ+ people, education and Indigenous rights…I don’t believe every person who voted Conservative is hateful or unintelligent. People vote for different reasons. But a win doesn’t make a policy harmless, and we shouldn’t pretend the campaign promises… or the rhetoric surrounding them… don’t matter. The Conservatives platform promises to repeal SOGI 123, an optional set of resources schools use to support students and address bullying related to sexual orientation and gender identity. It also promises to repeal DRIPA… B.C.’s framework for bringing the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples into provincial law. Those choices put queer and trans students inclusion and reconciliation at risk. In 2024, Conservative candidate Marina Sapozhnikov used a racist slur to describe Indigenous people and made the baseless claim that 90% of Indigenous people use drugs. During this election, Conservative candidate Mike Hicks said First Nations needed to be “conquered.” Both incidents were condemned by Indigenous leaders. These words carry the weight of a violent colonial history, and political parties must be held accountable. On health care, the platform budgets $205 million a year at full cost for its promise to protect universal care and improve access. It also promises publicly funded treatment through another qualified provider if surgical wait benchmarks are exceeded. That raises real questions about how expanded care outside the public system could affect public staffing and access. What’s been hardest to watch is how hatred, scapegoating and misinformation have been pushed into the mainstream as “common sense.” Far right talking points have made it easier to treat our neighbours rights, identities and histories as threats. That should alarm all of us…I’m not saying every Conservative voter is stupid… you can’t judge one person’s intelligence by their vote, and research can’t explain why any one person voted the way they did. But studies do show a pattern, on average, between lower cognitive test scores and stronger socially conservative and authoritarian views. In a climate full of fearmongering and misinformation, critical thinking matters more than ever… question the talking points and check the facts… And to the Conservative supporters all over social media right now, gloating, mocking people and telling them to “cry harder”… your side won. If your first instinct in victory is to become even crueler, that says far more about your character than it does about anyone you defeated…People are genuinely afraid for their health care, their schools, their rights, their families and their safety. Treating that fear like entertainment isn’t strength, patriotism or political debate. It’s a complete failure of basic human decency…You got the result you wanted. Try showing some humility and humanity. Do better. Be better. An election victory is a mandate to govern… it is not permission to strip people of their dignity, erase their history or treat their rights as negotiable…Human rights are not privileges handed out by whichever political party happens to hold power. Indigenous history doesn’t disappear because the truth makes people uncomfortable. Queer and trans kids don’t become less deserving of safety because adults have turned their existence into a culture war. Women’s equality is not settled enough to be taken for granted, and health care and education should never be sacrificed to satisfy an ideology…To everyone who feels frightened, angry or abandoned by this result… you are not alone. There are still people who see you, stand beside you and will fight like hell for you. I refuse to accept cruelty as “common sense.” I refuse to let misinformation become truth simply because it was repeated loudly enough. You won an election. You did not win the right to decide whose humanity matters.

My guess is these “new to power Conservatives ” are going to be epically greedy, terribly reckless playing fast & loose with the rule of law. The rapid pace of action will resemble how fast Project 2025 was implemented in first days of Trump 2.0. Gut, slash & sell Crown Jewels.
