The other shoulder received a quick, light bite. โ€œI meant with me, now that Iโ€™m back.โ€

While recoiling from that little trick, Syllaliseth had managed to fall backward onto their ass. Pinching their nose between their thumb and index finger, the Maormer blinked and looked up at Sophie. Words were beginning to make sense again, but only barely. โ€œWhat?โ€
The nose trick always works, unfortunately it hasn't saved Sophie's bicep from being mauled. She lets go once Syllaliseth lets go, and inspects the frayed meat coating her arm in blood. "By the Nine, what's gotten into you? Like a feral dog."

Following a chair to the back of the head during a tavern brawl, Syllaliseth has been tossed outside into the dirt. This may look like they lost, but you should see the other guy.

While did manage to get Sylla off, it was not as clean as them just releasing. They held on right up to the point where it seemed they might rip a chunk off โ€” but with a growl and short yowl they unlocked their jaw and let Sophie free.
Sophie gives Syllaliseth five, glorious seconds, before she hooks her thumb as far up their nose as she reach. "Get off me!"

Had Syllaliseth even wanted to let go, they would have needed a few moments. Their jaw was locked, any they hardly understood any of the words coming from Sophieโ€™s mouth. Their mind was far, far away.
She's holding back the urge to scream. It hurts so, so, so bad. "If you don't let go in five seconds, I'm sticking my thumb the whole way up your fucking nose."

It is too late. They are attached, and they will not be letting go in any reasonable amount of time.

anytime soon. Cross-legged and pulling the pelt close around their shoulders, the Maormer eyed the portions. Had they not been miserably sore, cold, and hungry, they would have complained about what Sophie had managed to gather. Instead, all they could think about was eating โ€”

something and putting at least one of their symptoms to rest. They even managed a quiet โ€œthank youโ€ after Sophie had finished speaking.

Syllaliseth remained prone, cheek to the floor, as Sophie laid out the food. Then, with a low groan, they pushed the staff back toward the pile and forced themself to sit upright. They were warming up, though there was no way in Oblivion they were going to feel comfortable โ€”
"Good." Sophie's boots crunch in the snow as she crouches down to enter the burrow. It's far warmer in this makeshift shelter, even as the cold nips at them from the opening. She covers the gap with her cloak and unfastens her pouch. The first order of business is laying ... 1/3

By the time Sophie returned, Syllaliseth had nearly finished examining their staff in excruciating detail. They had pushed the weapon along the ground until the head of the staff, which could second as a bludgeoning weapon, was right in front of them. Their chin was still โ€”
The foreshore weirs were not as fruitful as the berry bushes. These fences of rock and wood were built by her forefathers and rebuilt time and again. All a man had to do was walk along the structure to find trapped fish. Of course, everything aged, and not all seasons ... 1/3

resting on the floor, though they turned their head to when they heard Sophieโ€™s voice. With their cheek flat to the ground, they stared at the entrance. โ€œAlive,โ€ they answered as loud as they could, which was not anything more than a slightly raised voice. Their throat was โ€”

Left on their own, the pirate seldom behaved. Theft would have been their first impulse had they been in better shape, or had any clue where they would flee to. Instead, begrudgingly, Syllaliseth sipped their tea until it had run out. With nothing else to do while they waited, โ€”
"Great. Don't choke on the sea while I'm gone." Sophie pulled on her light cloak and her boots and her foraging pouch and crawled out of the burrow. There was still enough sunlight to walk in the open. Only a few animals were worth worrying about and they were big enough ... 1/3

the Maormer lowered themself onto their chest and rested in front of their drying belongings. Prone with their chin touching the ground, they pulled their staff from the pile and set it right in front of their eyes. Rolling it over, they began to inspect it for any damage. It โ€”

was perfectly fine, other than for the metal still being cool to the touch, but the inspection at least gave them something to do.
