Poverty at best slows you down , at worst stops you in your tracks completely . Important report and powerful testimony from Joseph, Joe and Chayla. @KingsTrust @spear
We launched our latest report, looking closely at how growing up in poverty increases the likelihood of young people becoming NEETS.
@Channel4News covered it in this report,

Huge thanks to Joseph, Joe & Chayla for speaking to us about how the legacy of child poverty makes becoming Neet much more likely, much harder to escape .
🎥 The brilliant @MackesonPaul Prod by the fantastic @KayBibi @isabelfcd & @C4Faye . Massive tnks to @KingsTrust & Spear
There are nearly one million 16-24 year olds not in education, employment or training in Britain - commonly known as NEETs.
Exclusive analysis given to Channel 4 News shows that young people who grew up in deprivation are much more likely to become NEET and will stay that way for much longer too.
New analysis by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation reveals that growing up in persistent poverty can triple the likelihood of becoming NEET and make it much harder to escape.
The young people featured in this video are being supported by organisations including The King’s Trust and Spear South Wales.

The Metropolitan Police has announced it’s investigating potential criminal offences involving donations and polling after Channel 4 News and @Verbatim_Media revealed evidence of potential law breaking at the highest levels of Reform UK.
Reform UK has said it will co-operate fully with the investigation and denies any wrongdoing.

Two Reform UK officials have stepped down, and the party has launched an investigation - after footage was broadcast on this programme indicating that they broke the law on political donations.
Undercover filming by @Verbatim_Media showed James Orr and Dan Jukes appearing to try to bypass election law barring donations from overseas.
The Liberal Democrats and Labour have reported the actions to the police.
Mr Jukes said he had been the victim of "entrapment" - while Mr Orr said he would co-operate fully with the party's investigation. Reform have denied wrongdoing.

“It worked, boom.”
That’s Nigel Farage celebrating a Reform UK plot to break election law - by having a US company secretly pay for three influential political polls that benefitted the party.
Earlier in the investigation, Reform’s Head of Policy James Orr and senior advisor Dan Jukes arranged for a Verbatim reporter to pay for the polls through a US company. Orr and Jukes believed the firm was run by the reporter’s American father.
Mr Farage was filmed by undercover reporters from @Verbatim_Media as part of a year-long investigation that Channel 4 News has thoroughly checked and verified.
This meeting took place in his Clacton constituency in July - when Mr Farage was fighting a by-election he called after separate allegations about his finances.

Farage is trying to reset the narrative. The problem is a by election win is no guarantee of that, indeed it could make questions around his finances more acute. This move, though bold, is born of wider (and worsening) political weaknesses, dressed as strength.

A Farage reset will mean the clock on his declarations also resets - so if there are other declarable "gifts" he received in the year before the 2024 election that we don't know about he will no longer have to tell anyone. The inquiry into the £5 million - when it resumes - could ask him direct questions about that - but he may or may not answer

Could we get a double by-election in Clacton?
The parliamentary rules state that if a poltician 'ceases to be a member while an investigation is in progress' then the investigation is suspended 'until the Member is re-elected'
So there is a world in which Nigel Farage wins the Clacton by-election, the investigation resumes, he is censured, suspended and another by-election is triggered....

Farage says he's "the most physically" attacked politician of our lifetimes.
He's said this before. Tell that to Jo Cox or David Amess.
