Today’s first Non-themed “Honorable” mention is from Trainer IrisI68 (@irisl68) in New Mexico, 🇺🇸! However, this postcard is from Tucson, Arizona. This postcard showcases a whimsical, musically inclined mural painted on the exterior wall of The Scented Leaf Tea House & Lounge (thescentedleaf.com) in Tucson, Arizona (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tucson…). It was completed in early 2024 to liven up the Eastside neighborhood. The mural is a massive, brightly colored oceanic fantasy scene woven into a desert context. It primarily features: A larger-than-life, musically inclined octopus 🐙 playing instruments (including an accordion 🪗 , a brass horn, and a harp 🪉). A series of signature floating whales 🐋 coasting through a vivid, surreal sky. Hidden mystical and mythical symbols integrated directly into the underwater design. According to the artist, the owners requested something "musical, bright, and vibrant" that would bring a smile to passersby and give commuters a good feeling. It was painted by famed local Tucson artist Joe Pagac (joepagac.net). He arguably the most prolific public muralist in Arizona. He is well-known for creating massive, cinematic-scale street art that blends the Sonoran Desert landscape with dreamlike elements. This particular piece is considered one of his few large installations located on the far east side of the city.

Today’s first Non-themed “Honorable” mention is from Trainer IrisI68 (@irisl68) in New Mexico, 🇺🇸! However, this postcard comes from Tucson, Arizona. This postcard showcases a vibrant piece of public street art titled "Typical Teenager”. The artwork is painted on the north exterior wall of the building that originally housed Charlie's Comic Books in Tucson, Arizona (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tucson…). The store permanently closed around April 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic after more than 20 years in business. The mural captures a colorful, pop-art style slice of life. It portrays a girl with vibrant blue hair tied up into two buns, styled in a distinctly comic- and anime-inspired aesthetic. She wears a casual vest over a white T-shirt and has a red backpack slung over her shoulders. She is completely absorbed in her own world—reading a comic book while a black-and-white cat rests comfortably across her lap. The background features deep green brickwork accented by sparkling orange and yellow retro starbursts, echoing a comic block panel pattern. The piece was created by Vic Hollins (vichollins.com), a freelance illustrator, comic creator, and muralist based in Tucson. Hollins’ personal style heavily influences the piece, frequently featuring mixed-media artwork with bold, vivid colors, feminine subjects, and graphic patterns. Aside from painting large public murals, she also creates independent comic series (such as Wilder (kickstarter.com/projects/vic…)) and creates illustrations traditionally painted on wood panels. ⭐️ One of my favorite stickers!

Today’s Themed Daily Pick is from Trainer IrisI68 (@irisl68) in New Mexico, 🇺🇸! However, this postcard is from Tuscon, Arizona. This postcard showcases a colorful interior mural located inside El Coronado Family Restaurant (elcoronadotucson.com), a local Mexican eatery in the Rita Ranch area of Tucson, Arizona (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tucson…). The artwork depicts La Catrina, the iconic, elegant skeletal woman who serves as the central symbol for the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). She is adorned with: An Intricate calavera (sugar skull) facial cosmetics and patterns. A vibrant crown woven with red and blue flowers. A stylized banner across her chest reading "Day of the Dead". Rather than a custom creation by a local street artist, this particular wall mural is an interior commercial reproduction of a well-known digital stock illustration. The original vector illustration was created by the graphic artist and illustrator Varvara “Depiano” Kurakina (depiano.art). The restaurant utilized the graphic design as a wall-spanning decorative accent print to establish an immersive, culturally rich dining environment. I have added a picture of the print below. ⭐️ for the PERFECT sticker pairing!

Today’s final Non-themed “Honorable” mention is from Trainer IrisI68 (@irisl68) in New Mexico, 🇺🇸! This postcard showcases a favorite roadside marker for travelers driving through Sandoval County, Algodones, New Mexico (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algodo…). The artwork is painted across a massive horizontal metal utility storage tank. It depicts three vibrant, stylized calaveras (skeletons) dressed as traditional mariachis playing string instruments, heavily inspired by Mexican Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) folk art and iconography. Locals and travelers affectionately refer to the trio as the "Three Amigos." The mural was painted by local New Mexico artist Bradley Benson (unfortunately, no social media or website link found). I love this one, but without Catrina I just couldn’t accept it as a “themed” pick! ❤️❤️❤️

Today’s third “Honorable” mention is from Trainer IrisI68 (@irisl68) in New Mexico, 🇺🇸! This postcard showcases an oil-on-canvas painting titled "Ogapogeh Owingeh". This massive artwork is prominently displayed on a focal wall inside the lobby of the Starbucks (starbucks.com) in Pojoaque, New Mexico (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pueblo…), located just north of Santa Fe (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_…). The piece was integrated into the building's design as part of a corporate partnership highlighting regional Native artists, accompanied by Tewa language (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tewa_l…) inscriptions etched onto the exterior of the coffee shop to reflect the surrounding Pueblo community. The painting features a sweeping, expressionistic Northern New Mexico mountain landscape under a fiery, heavily textured sunset. It is part of a series by the celebrated Native American artist Mateo Romero (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mateo_…). He is a former director of the Native American art program at the School for Advanced Research and was named an Albuquerque Local Treasure for his deep impact on contemporary Indigenous fine art. His powerful abstract-expressionist works are exhibited in major museums nationwide, including the Smithsonian Institution. Romero utilizes a technique called impasto (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impast…)—using a palette knife to apply thick, vigorous layers of paint to bring an intense, emotional energy to the canvas. This piece is rooted in what the artist refers to as "semantic sovereignty". By titling his landscapes with traditional Tewa language names rather than colonial Spanish or English ones, Romero actively works to reclaim and restore Indigenous presence to the sacred local geography. Ogapogeh Owingeh translates roughly to "White Shell Water Place," the ancestral Tewa name for the area of Santa Fe. ⭐️ Well, hello there!

Today’s first “Honorable” mention is from Trainer IrisI68 (@irisl68) in New Mexico, 🇺🇸! This postcard showcases a vibrant mural located at the Nova Point apartment complex (novaabq.com) in Albuquerque, New Mexico (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albuqu…). It spans the exterior facade of the building, turning the residential community space into a landmark of local public street art. The artwork celebrates the geography of the American Southwest with a bold, retro-psychedelic aesthetic: The Central Subject: It features Shiprock (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shipro…), also known in Navajo as Tsé Bitʼaʼí, meaning "rock with wings", a sacred, prominent volcanic monadnock rising out of the high-desert plain of the Navajo Nation (navajo-nsn.gov) in San Juan County (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Ju…). The Sky & Elements: The peak is flanked by a dynamic, flowing sky composed of broad rainbow ribbons and a winding, starry black ribbon that evokes a cosmic Milky Way or night sky blending into daylight. The artist who created this mural was the late Robert James Harkness (harknessartsfoundation.org). Known across regional art communities in Santa Fe, Pojoaque, and Albuquerque, Harkness focused heavily on oil paintings, printmaking, and street-scale murals celebrating southwestern cultural heritage. This was the last major public art installation before his passing in 2023.

@ScopelyExplore ShinyRed has her account back. Now she needs her Pokémon back too. Years of legitimate progress were stolen, including incredibly rare Shundos. Most importantly, her Shadow Shundo Charizard. Please restore the Pokémon she earned. Leaving this unresolved would send a terrible message to the community. Please share and tag @ScopelyExplore. Let’s help ShinyRed get her collection back! 🙏 Because if a dedicated player can lose years of progress to a hacker and then be left without meaningful help, what message does that send to the rest of us? This is not just about one account. It’s about trust. #PokemonGO #Scopely #SaveShinyRed
Took a quick look at the storage: I used to have 19 shundos, now only 17. This monster has stolen my most precious Pokémon💔 Shadow shundo Charizard💜🖤🔥😭 Also he stole a normal shundo Charizard (from field research). 💔💔 I just feel really empty now😭

Today’s first “Honorable” mention is from Trainer IrisI68 (@irisl68) in New Mexico, 🇺🇸! This postcard features San Felipe de Neri Church (sanfelipedeneri.org), the historic centerpiece of Albuquerque (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albuqu…) notable for being the city's oldest surviving structure. The building spans the north side of the historic Old Town Plaza (albuquerqueoldtown.com). Architectural Style The building is a rare example of New Mexican Spanish Colonial architecture (humanities.nmartmuseum.org/c…) combined with 19th-century Victorian Gothic Revival (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gothic…) embellishments. Traditional Adobe Core: Built in a cruciform layout (cross-shaped), it features massive 5-foot-thick adobe walls designed for insulation and defence. The interior retains original 18th-century wooden ceiling beams called vigas and carved support corbels. Gothic Revival Additions: After the arrival of the American territory transition and railroads, New European aesthetics were layered on top. Twin prominent wooden bell towers topped with distinct spires were added around 1861. Interior Elements: The interior houses an elaborate altar and pulpit meticulously painted to resemble marble. A ornate pressed tin ceiling was introduced in 1916. Historical Significance San Felipe de Neri represents the uninterrupted growth of Albuquerque from its early Spanish foundations to the present day. Founding: The original parish chapel was first founded in 1706 alongside the establishment of the town itself. Heavy monsoon rains in 1792 flooded the area and caused the old church to collapse, leading to the construction of the present-day structure in 1793. Cultural Shift: The church survived several major political eras—initially operating under Spanish rule, shifting to the Secular Clergy of Durango, Mexico in 1817, turning over to the Jesuit Fathers in 1868, and finally returning to the Archdiocese of Santa Fe in 1965. Continuous Legacy: It is the only building in Old Town verified to date precisely back to the Spanish colonial era. It has remained a fully functional, active Catholic parish continuously serving the local community without interruption for over two centuries. It is listed on both the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties (nmhistoricpreservation.org/p…) and the National Register of Historic Places (nps.gov/subjects/nationalreg…).
