So freaking cool! We're running Omarchy ads in the center of Copenhagen on Rådhuspladsen this week. Design by @Dennis_Rye and funded by @sonderby 👏
There's even a billboard generator available if you want to do this in your city: github.com/llstrk/omarchy-bi…
Omarchy week has started in Copenhagen! Thank you @sonderby for collaborating and helping fund this. And thank you @dhh for letting Peter and I do something crazy. @OmarchyLinux

I am tired of executing random scripts to install software and then not being able to uninstall it.
Today I fixed it. Introducing bashka!
It is a lightweight single-binary cli to manage bash madness. It statically analyzes the bash script that you are going to run for installations and then also keeps track of what you have installed

Sharding for Postgres is here.
Neki is now available.
This video is larger than Cloudflare's 512 MB cache, so it can't be played through. More donations are needed to cover a larger cache. Donate

One of the biggest observation for indexed search for me when I was designing fff content search was the fact that traditional indexes are HUGE
Here is the size of the new tgrep index. It's absurd. Over 1GB index size for linux repo. This is simply wrong because this huge amount of data needs to processed on every query, and needs to be updated on file change

if you are a programmer and you'd like to start a company it is helpful to internalize two big weaknesses you have
1. your instincts for anything outside programming are terrible. everything you believe is likely 100% backwards
2. you've always been treated like the smart person in the room so it will take you a very long time to understand #1
for me personally it took ~ 10 years before i started to be able to unwind this

Beware people obsessed with outcomes instead of building outcome machines. Its worse than ever with AI, but these people existed before. Short term results above all else, etc. Don't fall into the trap. Invest in building strong fundamentals, invisible supports, and outcomes flow like water. An outcome machine.

We're pulling back the curtain on Neki, our sharded Postgres product, at THE SF DATABASE MEETUP on Sept 10.
The lineup:
@NickVanWig — A first look at Neki's architecture
@BenjDicken — Why Postgres needs sharding
@harshitgangal — The lifecycle of a query in Neki
@rohitnayak — Data movement in Neki
@fouioui — Managing 1,000 Postgres servers with Kubernetes
Limited spots. Hats and stickers for those who make it:

Under the right (wrong?) circumstances, a single Postgres connection can block all other queries.
This is the nature of most relational databases, given their MVCC mechanisms. We've made it incredibly easy to find and solve.
A beautiful new feature and blog to boot.
You've just been paged. Every database query is failing to execute. Figure out why.
This exact question is how early GitHub hired its DBAs.

Hi everyone,
My friend @sdglhm and I recently built a new open-source Sinhala keyboard called Akshara. We wanted to share it with the @aksharalk community!
Why did we build this?
If you use a Mac or an iPhone, you probably know that Apple's default Sinhala Wijesekara keyboard is a bit confusing. It does not follow the standard layout we are used to.
Also, Apple does not have a built-in Phonetic (Singlish) keyboard. Until now, the only software people used for Singlish on Mac was very old. Because it does not work without "Rosetta" (a tool Apple uses to run older apps), it will completely stop working from macOS 28 onwards. In fact, users who tested the macOS 27 Developer Beta already saw this old keyboard break!
On top of that, to type in Singlish on phones, users have to download third-party keyboards. The problem is that many of these apps connect to the internet, which is a big privacy risk when you are typing passwords or personal messages.
What is Akshara?
Akshara fixes these problems. It gives you a proper, standard Wijesekara layout and a fully offline Phonetic (Singlish) keyboard. It is safe, fast, and completely free.
100% Open Source
Because we care about privacy, the whole project is open-source. Anyone can look at our code, fork it, and contribute. If you have an Apple Developer account, you can even download the source code, build the app yourself, and install it directly on your own devices.
What is next? (We need your help!)
We have already started building the Akshara keyboard for Android!
However, we really want to make a Windows version too. If there are any developers here who would like to help us build Akshara for Windows, we would love to invite you to join the project.
Check it out here:

Your keyboard shouldn't connect to the internet...

I bought a few domains. We should have Omarchy in every country, every language: omarchy.ae, omarchy.dk, omarchy.fi, omarchy.fr, omarchy.gr, omarchy.hu, omarchy.in, omarchy.is, omarchy.jp, omarchy.kr, omarchy.mx, omarchy.nz, omarchy.ph, omarchy.pt, omarchy.se, omarchy.sg, omarchy.tr, omarchy.us
We are missing a few, but hopefully we can get the kind owners to donate these to the Omacom Foundation 🙏
