Nineteen graduates left Ibadan to serve Nigeria. On Independence Day, gunmen took them off the Owerri–Onitsha road at Umunoha and marched them into the bush. Families were later shown a video of them sitting on the ground, crying, and told the price is ₦50 million each. That is ₦950 million for people who have not even collected their first allawee. This is not an isolated crime. It is what happens when we keep sending batches of young people down the same highways, on the same dates, into the same corridors.

GText, founded by Stephen Akintayo, has started bullying and intimidating me simply because I asked for the three months’ salary they owed me.
I was blocked by the founder months ago after I repeatedly requested payment, and despite several attempts to resolve the matter, I was still not paid until I spoke publicly about it and the public pressure helped.
I have nothing to apologize for. Asking for my legitimately earned salary is not an offence.
What seems to be upsetting them now is that other former staff who are also owed money have started speaking up and asking for what they are owed.
I will not be bullied, intimidated or pressured into silence for speaking about my own experience and asking for money I worked for.
I stand by what I said, and I will continue to address this matter through the appropriate channels.

Abduction of 20 Youth Corps Members: Insecurity Must Not Be a Norm
The abduction of approximately 20 prospective NYSC members travelling to their orientation camp is yet another distressing indication of the worsening insecurity in our country. These young Nigerians were preparing to serve their nation, but they were unable to travel safely on our roads. Families are increasingly burdened by the fear that their loved ones could fall victim to kidnapping.
Protecting lives and property is the government’s foremost responsibility. We cannot continue to regard insecurity as an ordinary occurrence or act only after people’s lives have been disrupted.
I call for the immediate and safe rescue of all the abducted corps members and the arrest of those responsible. Nigeria must become a country where young people can travel, work, and serve their nation without fear. -PO

If you know the number of military and police check points around the axis this thing happened, you will be furious.
I am very furious like this, and for information sake the incident happened along Owerri road around Ọgbakụ and not Owerri.
There are tens of check points along that road but they prefer to harass innocent passengers.

The k!dnappers are demanding for N950m to release the 19 NYSC members k!dnapped on their way to Abia and Akwa Ibom from Ibadan.
Is it that we don't have Police and Army again in this country that these k!dnappers are just doing whatever they like?
These guys are only useful to our politicians and not to the ordinary citizens 🤦♀️
