As documented in our recent @Groundwork report, The Hidden Costs of AI:
The Blue Cross/Blue Shield Association says that AI is already driving *up* healthcare costs, as hospitals use the technology to find instances where they can bill more for the same level of care. bcbs.com/about-us/associatio…

Broke the 10,000 follower barrier - all for an account that only talks about a Consumer/Retail world that only goes down! Had a lot of help along the way to get here and want to use this moment to thank everyone. There are so many X accounts that we love but, on this occasion, want to single out those that have proactively helped us gain ample followers over the past few years. Greatly apologize if missed anyone. @NeelyTamminga: Former US Retail Softlines competitor on the sell-side but X got us reacquainted and now consider a sister. Matthew 12:50. @AsifSuria: His podcast is outstanding but talk about a great human being – was helping me understand the X world when I only had 100 followers despite him having 100x that. @AnalystEgg: Maybe first person to make me realize that X can be a platform for thoughtful, knowledgeable discussion. @ConsensusGurus: Wish he posted more on homebuilders as that world needs his thoughts on X. Good enough of a guy to ignore his strange love for the UF Gators 😉 @paulcerro: Profile picture aside 😉, does excellent work on the companies he looks into. @JacobJaber: Really changed the way I think about a lot of things. Founders just have a different outlook on life than sell-side research analysts. @gregoryblotnick: So much anonymous bullshit on X so was solid gold to come across his account as its written in the exact language of an institutional investor in consumer. The process, understanding, sarcasm, self-deprecation. @ProfPaulNary: Talk about a home run account to follow – why is he not already at 100k+. @k3ithmccullough: We share a love of athletic footwear, and he is 100% on top of my space at all times. @JeffMacke: Surprisingly the consumer world is pretty small on X right now (unlike tech) but Jeff is a must follow regardless. Unnatural love of Minnesota though 😉 @barryknapp: If there is only one macro account to follow this is it. Worked with Barry for probably a decade, yet he has the independent voice that is helpful relative to the sea of macro sameness you find at most banks. I guess the next milestone is 100,000? Does that mean I have to start making political posts and engaging in twitter wars with higher profile people? If so, guess I wont be making that milestone... Thanks again everyone and a special extra thanks to all the content creators that focus on the Consumer/Retail world. I didn't call many of you out but plan to make that kind of post in the upcoming future.

$TTD has reupped Jeff Green's equity with a new performance option after an 89% drawdown. What else is there to say at this point?

(2/3) $LULU: Lululemon Can Make A “Heidi” Look Good We are far from the days when Lululemon product was all the rage because of a strong reputation for flattering a certain part of the body anatomy. Of course, the business model was always much more than that and ultimately allowed the company to become an $11+ billion global brand. The core reasons for that success largely remain in place today and necessary change is already underway to return the brand to health. This isn’t an earnings preview note – it’s more a state of the union address for this company. We discuss major aspects of the story today including discounting, merchandising, and IT, as well as provide thoughts from Asia channel checks. The bull thesis here is that after a highly damaging proxy fight, the company is “really trying to set the business up so that Heidi steps in, hits the ground running, and builds on top of the actions that are already underway.” We don’t yet know if any of these actions are successful, but the company’s direction seems materially better now that founder Chip Wilson is back in the fold. Unfortunately, Heidi O’Neill doesn’t start as CEO until September 8th, which is after 2Q26 earnings. That gives interim management one more shot at kitchen sinking expectations to provide a fresh start but now with, importantly, input from Chip and two of his Board members. Now is probably a good time for a fresh look at corporate communications given the announced departure of CCO Bill Chandler. The old “good cop, bad cop” routine has the potential to work well with Interim Co-CEO Meghan Frank taking the hit upfront to ensure Heidi gets to prove all the doubters wrong and beat the perpetual bears off this story once and for all. It’s almost certain that Heidi will not have the same grace period that Elliott Hill at Nike enjoyed given the credibility hole she already sits in with investors (largely thanks to the incumbent Board)... ...(Abridged)... There was heavy discounting online this quarter (particularly emails) but we didn’t notice much in the stores themselves. The direction of discounting shouldn’t be too surprising given markdowns were expected to be up 50 basis points but difficult to judge if that covers the full magnitude that we noticed. We know Interim Co-CEO Andre Maestrini is focused on reducing instore markdown activity to create a more premium shopping experience but suppose if clearance was getting out of hand we would have seen more of it in the stores anyway. There seems to be a substantial trend change post quarter though as promotional email intensity has dropped off in a meaningful way. Our dataset from Random Walk shows almost zero activity for the last two weeks of the quarter and our own personal observations indicate that this trend continued throughout August. ...(Abridged)... As mentioned, this is a highly abridged version of this 9 page note. Subscribers can find the complete deep dive note and financial model at our website in post #3 of this thread (link also in profile). We currently have coverage of 20 consumer/retail companies and will always provide all work on Nike and Restoration Hardware for free. See our website for more information.

A couple things I would reiterate on $INTU: Under the old EPS format, they're guiding FY27 to $28.81, which is up 19% over FY26 and better than the $27.30 consensus. FCF was $8.6B in FY26, $6.6B ex SBC, which is a 7.5% yield on AH market cap. NTM P/E is 14.5x, which is a full 6-8 turns below $ADP and $PAYX despite a far superior growth profile for INTU (9-10% vs. 5-7% for ADP/PAYX).

3% to 4% churn from ios to android is bullish Google
I read all 644 pages of the Epic vs Apple Court Case so you wouldn’t have to... Here are the 10 most interesting facts I found 1. There were 100,000 app store submissions in 2021 (probably way higher now) 2. There are ~500 app store reviewers in total 3. Each app store review takes 6-12 minutes avg 4. Some reviews took under a minute — one app got a 32-second review 5. Reviewers were hired if they "could breathe... could think” 6. Apple's internal term for removing apps flagged by press was "throwing an app under the bus” 7. Apple's own calculations put App Store margins at ~79.6% in 2018 8. 3-4% of iOS users switch to android each year 9. Apple's own fraud lead said "App Store charts aren't really a discovery tool at all... mostly the bots and/or humans responding to incentives" 10. >2,000,000 apps have been removed from the app store — more apps than currently exist now

The interesting part about the $META lawsuit is that they’re 100% guilty of what they’re being accused of. I haven’t even seen anyone debate otherwise Very curious how it plays out

nA...Epistemologically false beliefs can produce survival-relevant outcomes (including market-clearing bids, reproductive success, coalition stability, etc.) that match or exceed those of true beliefs, at least under certain conditions and for limited domains or timescales.
Stocks selling off because a private company missed monthly alt-data revenue expectations. The podification of the market is complete.

from my understanding whatever earned them $APP the right to win on mobile is not the same driving factor as e-commerce.
I consider AppLovin $APP have already succeeded in eCommerce. It's already a significant portion of overall gross spend in U.S. It's just can be materially better. In the end of 2024, eCommerce was already responsible for around 15%~20% of gross spend on the platform in the U.S. assuming take rates were similar between the U.S. and international markets. This numbers was disclose in 2025 Q1, when Applovin said its eCommerce vertical had surpassed $1B ARR in gross spend by the end of 2024, versus around $10B in gaming. This was before they had opened the platform to international markets. At the time, the U.S. represented only around half of revenue. With the growth in 2025 and 2026, AppLovin's U.S. gross spend portion should be materially larger today. What's even more insane is that the 15~20% figure was achieve with 600 customer. And even today they still only have around 10,000 pixels providing them data. Given that limited data footprint, what they've already achieved is unbelievable. From the overall platform perspective, I think AppLovin should already be consider as succeeding in eCommerce. The problem is simply that eCommerce is such a massive vertical that even a very large achievement still looks small relative to the total opportunity. - I also suspect AppLovin's eCommerce business is already profitable, given Adam's view that an ads platform doesn't make sense if the platform itself can't make money. I'm less certain about this part. But the overall achievement is already extremely impressive. And the fact that there is still so much room for improvement is actually a very good thing. Now even big companies like @Wayfair are using the platform. - AppLovin's eCommerce revenue should be materially lower than its share of gross spend because AppLovin records revenue on a net basis. If they record any net revenue, given the insane small fixed cost, they should already be profitable in eCommerce even when they should still be in investing stage.
