ALT 💡 Federica Pancotti, during the 2023 Edition of the #JRC Summer School on Nuclear Decommissioning and Waste Management, organised within the frame of the European Learning Initiatives for Nuclear Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation (#ELINDER) provided an overview on the International cooperation activities and EU-funded projects in which SOGIN is involved, including CLEANDEM and INNO4GRAPH Projects .

ALT About the project: All power plants have a finite life beyond which it is not economically feasible to operate them. In this case, they need to be decommissioned, cleaned up and demolished. The EU-funded INNO4GRAPH project develops a set of tools and methods for dismantling power plant operations. Specifically, it designs 3D modelling of dismantling scenarios as well as measurement tools for the mechanical and physical properties. The project’s tools and methods will be tested at a full-scale graphite power plant demonstrator in Chinon, France, in 2022, facilitating their uptake and further development. The participation of all European graphite reactor operators in the consortium launches an era of excellence in the graphite reactor decommissioning field. For more information, please visit the project public website: https://www.inno4graph.eu/ and follow us on the Inno4Graph social media: https://www.linkedin.com/company/inno4graph-project/

ALT Have a look at our paper titled "European collaborative efforts to achieve effective, safe, and cost-controlled #dismantling of #nuclear facilities". The outcomes of five projects (INNO4GRAPH, LD-SAFE, PLEIADES, CLEANDEM and INSIDER) are summarized here. They result in a unique data and knowledge common base, as well as in a significant sharing of experience based on dismantling projects already carried out or to come. They also result in designing new tools or methods natively taking into account the needs of a maximum of dismantling operators, as well as new test facilities. ALT Dismantling and Waste Management session during the International Nuclear Digital EXperience on Feb 16. During this session, Berangere Clere presented the Inno4Graph project developing: 1. Tools and methods which will be used in tests and studies before actual dismantling operations to: a. Get an extensive knowledge of the graphite properties and the dismantling tools to be used. These include in-situ measurements of cracks and corrosion, digital tools and testing protocols. b. Evaluate the efficiency of innovative tools to define the most adapted scenario for each reactor considering the local context (technical constraints, regulations, …), safety and cost-efficiency. These include scenario grid analysis, mock-ups for physical tests and digital 3D models. 2. Innovative cutting and handling tools to be used during the dismantling operations.
