Hey everyone,
If anyone needs help with their website or with other tech, I have time in my schedule and I could use the work.
Thanks,
Nate
Okay, now this is annoying.
This morning I was filling out my profile in Whova in anticipation of going to WFC later this week. A few minutes ago I went back in the app to discover that Whova decided unilaterally to scrape my LinkedIn profile and add a bunch of shit.
I did not give Whova a link to my profile, nor did I ask for this.
I have to assume this is an example of an AI being left alone to run amuck. That is annoying, but what really sucks is that Whova is otherwise a fairly shitty app.

If you want to check whether that media you just saw/heard was AI-generated, Google has a site which will check for AI tags embedded in the content.

Do you want to hear something that never ceases to annoy me?
It's when authors add me to their mailing list without my permission. This has happened more and more of late, and I really don't get why authors don't realize it's a bad idea to piss people off.
The Madman who wrote this dedicated himself to the dark arts, despite knowing perfectly well that all the real money is in YA.
I have a 3 and a half hour drive to go to an all-day event coming up. The event starts at 10 am.
Should I drive the night before and get a room, or get up early that morning?
I'm beginning to feel that when I see the phrase fan run convention, it means it will be badly run.
That phrase gives off the vibe of an event with lower standards, a higher tolerance for sloppiness and lack of communication, and other issues.
Using chat-type AI has been shown to be asbestos for the mind.

A 15 year old made fun of a local councillor on Facebook—photoshopped bunny ears on him, said he dressed like a “rent boy,” etc. So the councillor reported the kid to UK police and he was arrested.
The councillor: “I was targeted by a child I had no way of dealing with.”

The latest trend in AI scams is author impersonations. For example, I got a letter supposedly from V.E. Schwab, and Matt Dinnaman (of Dungeon Crawler Carl fame) got a letter from Matt Dinnaman (no joke).

One small way to support freelancers as we enter the end of the year: tell them about how their projects performed. Was their article one of the most-read on your site? Did their writing help products sell?
