Charles Murray concludes the Jews must be God's chosen people because their uniquely high intelligence goes back to Moses. Except Mizrahi Jews, who are closest to ancient Jews, have a below average IQ. The high IQ is mostly Ashkenazi Jews and developed in Europe in the Middle Ages. The Torah itself shows few signs of special intellectual sophistication. It is a depiction of a particularist, anthropomorphic God who experiences changing emotions, regret, and even has a physical body. There is little metaphysical enquiry beyond thinking about the Jews' own destiny and spiritually empty ritualism. Most of its cosmology is inherited from older Mesopotamian creation traditions. Ancient Egyptian religion had already developed elaborate cosmological and metaphysical traditions (including monotheism) centuries earlier. The Upanishads, written by Indo-Aryan brahmins centuries before the Torah, has deep explorations on the nature of consciousness, the limits of conceptual thought, the self and ultimate reality. It's also likely much of the Torah's creation narrative and Mosaic law were cribbed from Platonism and Greek myth by Jewish scholars in Alexandria. The more sophisticated and later metaphysical additions that informed Christianity, like logos and the immortal soul, are certainly Greek inheritances. Without these the Torah is, as Schopenhauer said, "a war manual for the Jews" I assume Charles Murray is just working backwards from his faith in Jewish superiority.
