𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 Speaking at the #AgroecologyProduceExhibition and Trade Fair, Guest of Honour Ms. Nabwire Resty Oundo, Secretary Social Services, Busia District, emphasised the need to look at agroecology beyond production and connect it to value addition, nutrition, enterprise development and healthier communities. “We need to grow more agroecological produce and go beyond production to value addition. When we diversify what we grow and turn it into safe, nutritious and quality products, we are not only creating better markets for farmers but also contributing to healthier diets. At a time when communities are increasingly facing non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and cancer, the food we produce, process and put on our tables matters. Let us therefore see agroecology not just as a way of farming, but as part of the solution to healthier communities, stronger local enterprises and more resilient food systems.” #BetterMarketsBetterIncomes | #AgroecologyNow
𝗚𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 As the #AgroecologyProduceExhibition and Trade Fair draws to a close, Guest of Honour Ms. Nabwire Resty Oundo, Secretary Social Services, Busia District, has toured the exhibition stalls and engaged with farmers, producers and traders showcasing their agroecological products. The tour offered an opportunity to see the range of enterprises participating in the fair, from fresh produce to processed and value-added products, and to hear directly from exhibitors about their work and market ambitions. Her engagement also underscored the role of local institutions in supporting farmer enterprises and creating an enabling environment for agroecological products to contribute to livelihoods, local markets and cross-border trade. #BetterMarketsBetterIncomes | #AgroecologyNow

PRINCE JONATHAN BAGUMA BBALA Jonathan, today I want to speak to you as my friend. Throughout these painful days, I have thought about you and prayed for you so many times. I know how much the King meant to you, and because I know you personally, I know there are parts of this loss that no photograph, headline or public tribute could ever explain. I have seen your loyalty. I have seen how you stood with him. And I know that behind the titles and responsibilities was a relationship that meant so much more. So today, I simply want to say thank you, my friend. Thank you for everything you did for our King. Thank you for the years you stood beside him, served him, protected him and remained present. Thank you for being one of those people he could count on. And now that our King has been laid to rest, my prayer turns especially to you. Father God, please carry Jonathan. Give him strength for the days when everyone else has returned to normal but his heart is still grieving. Protect him, give him wisdom, guard his peace and surround him with genuine love. Lord, You saw every sacrifice that nobody else saw. You know every memory, every conversation and every moment these two shared. May those memories eventually bring more comfort than pain. Jonathan, you have spent so much time being strong and being there for others. Please know that you don’t have to carry this season alone. I will continue praying for you. May God preserve you, strengthen you and guide every step that comes next. Thank you for standing with our King until the end. We will never forget it. 🫂😭♥️ Omukama Atulize.

I want to take a moment to appreciate this gentleman, who was barely mentioned in almost all the speeches, except in the final send-off speech by the Queen Mother, Best Kemigisha. Jonathan Baguma, the Personal Assistant to King Oyo. I honestly cannot remember many moments when I saw King Oyo without Jonathan somewhere close by. Jonathan, thank you for serving His Highness with such dedication. Some people may not have mentioned your name from the podium, but those who watched closely saw you. May God bless you and reward you for your service to the King. 🙏🏾

KING OYO - IMPACT Even in his death, King OYO is impactful, Fortportal and surrounding towns will fill to capacity during his burial. Tourism impact! Am told the road to Fortportal is a beehive, construction efforts have gone up 10 times right now. Impact! KING OYO did one of the most successful documentaries on the RWENZORI RANGES like you will read below! Impact ! The documentary associated with King Oyo (Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV of Tooro Kingdom) is the short film Rwenzori: The Source of Life (also referred to as King Oyo: Royal Rwenzori Mountain Expedition). It follows his 10-day 2022 expedition to Margherita Peak (5,109 m), the highest point in the Rwenzori Mountains and in Uganda, and focuses on climate change, melting glaciers, conservation, and promoting sustainable mountain tourism. It was a joint project of UNDP Uganda, the Uganda Tourism Board, and Tooro Kingdom. It received notable recognition in tourism and documentary film circles rather than becoming a mass-market hit. It won multiple international awards, including a Gold Trophy at the 2023 New York Festivals TV & Film Awards, placement in the US International Awards (tourism products), a top-5 / third-place finish in the Tourism Products category at the 2023 World Tourism Film Awards in Valencia, and recognition at ART & TUR. Sources describe it as a four- or five-time award winner.2 It premiered first in the United States (California), then in Fort Portal and at a Kampala premiere at the International University of East Africa in late 2023. Related events drew large local crowds. It was later added to the inflight entertainment on Brussels Airlines long-haul flights as a Destination Uganda promotion. Tourism officials publicly credited it (along with other efforts) with helping post-COVID recovery in Uganda’s tourism sector and increased interest in it was well-regarded and effective as a promotional and advocacy film—especially in tourism, conservation, and official circles, Its main impact was awards prestige, targeted screenings, and use in destination marketing.
