I'm starting an email newsletter 🧠 It's called Personal Lessons for Founders. I’ll share short thoughts on challenges, problems, and situations I’ve faced as an early stage founder over the years and what I’ve learned from them. If you're an early stage founder, read on 🧵:

I went to Dunkin Donuts the other day and the guy handed me my donuts and started talking about his Robinhood account and how he owns Micron (he's down now but he'll sell once he breaks even) We're definitely near a local market top

Anyone have a budget app/personal finance app they like a lot? I've been using @copilotmoney, but they've had so many issues syncing with my accounts and more recently my AMEX account, so I need to look at other options

When a random startup thinks they’ve done something for the first time lol Corgi’s cafe will probably last like a year in Atlanta

I built the first marketing playbook that led to Switchyards’ neighborhood work clubs expansion around Atlanta and eventually all over the country.

I believe that to be truly world-class at something, you have to spend years developing that skill.

Right now, I don’t have a superpower at any one thing. It’ll probably be years before I do. I might just be pretty good at a lot of things. And for now, that’s okay with me.

My manager once asked me “What’s your superpower?” Did I have to have one? What was mine?

I grew that school to 40 kids the next year despite Sora not being accredited, having only been running a single year, and with no brand recognition whatsoever. I built a team and grew Sora to $1M in annual revenue the year after.

I had built a school from scratch and convinced several parents to trust a group of 22-year olds with their children’s education–and succeeded.

Later at work, I looked around the office. Our design lead was super talented at designing physical spaces–he just had an eye for what made a room flow. One of our co-founders was very talented with words. He embodied the brand and how we communicated with our users.

I once met a school district administrator who legitimately did not want to improve their school lunch program Not like they didn’t care about it—they literally didn’t want it to get better at ALL

Since the district managed the serving staff, they were worried that increased participation in the lunch program would increase their workload Which is just a crazy incentive to not want the food to be better and healthier

I don’t have a lesson or anything for this post, it’s just something wild I observed at Ordo
