This is my last day as a CNCF Ambassador, after six and a half years. When I was selected as an Ambassador right after the pandemic began, many well-known people were already doing great work in the program. I remember feeling very proud to have that chance. I was especially nervous to be selected in the same cohort as Ian Coldwater. My hands were literally shaking. It was a bit sad that my first event as an Ambassador was an online KubeCon. Looking back, though, meeting online made casual conversations much easier. It also made seeing everyone in person again, when events returned, many times more joyful. I was just a DevOps engineer in my twenties, all alone at the far edge of East Asia. And yet I somehow ended up typing /approve on other people's PRs, speaking on stages across the West, and helping empower others. None of that would have been possible without this community behind me. During the pandemic, Japan was down to just one Ambassador. Now that we've brought KubeCon to Japan, there are more than ten of Ambassadors, and every one of them is active both in Japan and around the world. Seeing that, I feel that all my years as an Ambassador were truly worth it, and that makes me so happy. I'm deeply grateful to @reylejano, who has held up SIG Docs all these years and still welcomes me just as warmly even though I've gone inactive as a maintainer. I'm also grateful to @kaslinfields, who went through the community alongside me during the same years and shared the stage with me as a co-speaker. And to @karenhchu, a longtime friend who is now also my colleague. And to many, many others! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Stepping down as an Ambassador won't change much. I'll still be here, as part of this community. I can't wait to see what all of you do next, and I'll be cheering you on every step of the way.
