TW: Sexual assault
Recently, a survivor of sexual violence shared allegations against a member of Gorilla Party. We once covered the band but will remove the post from our site (which is down).
(Updated to mention allegations for legal purposes)
Indientry currently makes no money but I will donate to RAINN & My Sister’s Place, a domestic violence center in Athens. We once sold shirts and accepted paid advertisements, & that money will also be split among RAINN/MSP & Black trans orgs.
(Updated to include past endeavors)
Indientry is a safe space for all survivors of sexual violence and we condemn all forms & perpetrators of abuse. We don’t review or support music by alleged or known abusers, rapists or perpetrators of sexual violence.
(Updated to include alleged perpetrators for legal purposes)
I’d like to apologize for the lack of attention paid to race and racial diversity on Indientry. I will be better and focus intentional energy in the future, and I am self-educating on anti-racist work and pledging a portion of all of my personal paychecks to Black organizations.
I hope you will join me in supporting Black artists and organizations through more than just social media and beyond trending hashtags. Don’t let the attention die; the systemic racism embedded in our culture is real and we need continued, focused effort to combat it.

In order to truly understand the role systemic racism players in a label with a white roster, or a website that primarily covers white artists, in highly diverse music scenes, we need to talk about how things actually work behind the scenes.

Although Indientry's hiatus technically ended a week ago today, schoolwork and anxiety about the future got the best of us this week, and there's no review today.
See you on Thursday with an EP review!
Columbus alt-rock band @CherryxChrome released a stunning record earlier this week: Their wonderfully vibrant debut, titled "Place of Love."
